Boy do you ever have your facts all discombobulated. First off, we currently have the better contract. Secondly, it was PSA that went under the table and undercut PDT for the jets. Thirdly, both of our fleets are aging and in shoddy shape. Maybe ours a little more, but if you think your aircraft is better just becuase it's a jet you have a lot to learn. And if you are unable to understand the positive ramifications of a merger for both pilot groups then I can only shake my head at you and hope you one day start seeing the forest through the trees.

It's called unity dude, perhaps you should familiarize yourself with that term. Why do you think we are co-writing our contracts huh? To stop the wipsawing and the infighting. Or did you even know that.

Our contract is trash. I have no idea what your is. I'm just talking about pay rates. Assuming your payrates (the one listed on this site) are accurate, PSA pays better. both CA's and FO's. Look it up. Secondly are far as the undercutting goes, everyone has there own strory. All happened before I was here and I couldn't care less one way or the other. While the CRJ cetainly is no "dream machine" especially the 200, I would rather be in it than a dash. Why? Faster, quieter, Most all flights are above FL200. and our MX doesnt use the full deferal period for the APU as is common at Peidmont (im guessing). I've DHDed on Peidmont countless times the last couple of years and can count on one hand the number of times the APU actually worked. However, I bet the Dash is more fun to fly. Not sure if I would say our flleet is in "shoddy shape". If PSA and Peidmont were to merge, how many pilots at Peidmont would stay in the Dash if the could hold the CRJ? Excluding those close to retirement. I'm guessing not many. I have no interest in arguing who is better because the answer is neither. Both are $h!tholes but PSA would be getting the short end of the stick. IMO

I hadn't ever really heard this merge rumor before. There's definately a lot more to pay than the basic rates and not having both contracts in front of me I have no idea the differences. PSA's contract is generally pretty good, so I would be inclined to agree that it's possible that PSA pay is better. While the schedules weren't so bad when I was there it sounds like it's gotten a lot worse since they got PDT schedulers so that could be a wash as well. I always agree that it's better to avoid a whipsaw when possible but within my admittedly limited knowledge US Air doesn't really whipsaw Piedmont and PSA. Lastly it's generally the policy in that type of merger to have some sort of seat lock, so the senior guys wouldn't be able to instantly bid over to the jet. It's possible they wouldn't even want to, it just depends on the bases and schedules, they'd want whatever makes them work the least.

It ain't going to happen. Don't worry about it. Although we will help out Piedmont if need be. Just have a couple people that need talking to is all.

BTW our contract sucks. Reserve system is disgusting. Doesn't matter what pay rate we have if you don't get paid for coming into work, right?

I don't understand why faster is a good thing; we get paid by the hour. For identical routes you get paid more flying the dash. How is that a con?

Your reply is respectable. But To me you come off as suffering at least a tiny bit from SJS. More people would stay in the Dash then you realize. CRJ's just aren't that great dude. I would never leave the Dash to fly the CRJ-200, especially if I had to go back on reserve which with my seniority I would. I would only consider it if it improved my quality of life and only if I could hold a line on the 700 for the sake of my resume. I could care less about fast and high. I can make the argument I'm a better stick and rudder pilot then an RJ guy due to the fact that we are always in the weather with half the automation you have flying a systems intensive aircraft that is fracking hard to land! But I have no idea how good of a pilot you are, so that argument holds no water, just as your postion does neither.

Your pay rates are approriately better due to the fact that you fly a higher capacity aircraft. That is how it should be. But I will point out our first year f/o pay is stronger. Not that it matters becuase as you stated, they both ultimately suck.

Why do all threads end up with people saying I am a better pilot then you are and my airline sucks but is better then your airline.

No body said that..read it again. I have a question. Why are message boards full of people that fail to realize that them complaining about complaint is hypocrisy at its finest not mention egging on and instigating further tension. I for one am not threatened by PSA people. I like those guys. They always get me home. I'd love the opportunity to work with them. Personally, I fail to understand the resistance.

Who care? Soon, nobody at PDT or PSA will be on 1st yr FO pay.

If you have an autopilot and an APU, you have a cushie deal.

It's simple. PDT pilot group is much much more senior then ours. hence the resistance. It's not about jets or props (althought I only speak for myself). That is why PSA pilots are against it and PDT are mostly for it. What is the average longevity of a PDT CA? Those folks stand to take a $30/hr pay raise, ofcoarse they're for it. In our case half the captains would be downgraded. NOW why are we talking about a merger anyways? That was spawn by TK retiring. It's not an indication of managment reduction in efforts to consolidate, he is going to MI for kayaking (thats what the email said anyways). And I agree PDT folks are pretty cool in all of my experiences. Cheers dashgirl
