It's called education. Initial reaction versus what's right for my family. Nonetheless, it was and is a crap sandwich. There's no denying that it is not a sparkling arrangement everyone is so excited for. However, applicable to my family and my future, followed by educating myself by getting involved with the various people familiar with the deal...it makes it a status quo vs. Future option.

I guess there is hope for you yet. Being at either the far left or far right is dangerous. The closer people are to the middle the better of a society we live in. IMO.
Now this TA does benefit some. It does have promises that were made in the last but never materialized. Our MEC got played last 900 vote and we got played again. It could take years to place and staff any additional airplanes. At which time we are not making any additional income nor any QOL increases you think we will get as a result.
Bottom line is this TA helps the new US Airways dramatically through the next 10 years. This was our only chance to solidify a stable regional industry and we took the low road. We have become the low paid outsourced labor we hate so much. Now we have to go to China to get paid what we are worth.

If ALPA *ever* deserved legitimate blame for something, its not educating its younger/newer members what pattern bargaining is...

...and how you can pattern bargain up, or pattern bargain down.

Because the current state of affairs is most definitely the latter.

The April 2013 PSA CBA can be found here:
PSA MEC > Home

This is not the brand-900 "growth contract" recently ratified.

Sea, well said, especially the first part. The only thing I'd add about the latter part is that internal upgrades can happen and change sometimes career for the better, even if we have trouble staffing. But not far left or right. I'm simply displaying an alternate view a lot of times on here. Middle is good... We need to be balanced. Didn't Buddha say that?

national was in favor of this, there were vp's going around saying that this was the way of things with the regionals now, to just buckle down and give in to mainlines, even if they want concessions when they're profitable...

we've been sold down the river

So let me get this straight, they have to give you guys 48 a year out of the x amount interviewed at American? Does this mean that they will not take more than 48 from any one regional throughout the year? If they do, then how exactly is this a win for you guys? Also, lets say an "Idiot" fails, how long before he can re-interview?

Something for you to think about. With the new United and American following the footsteps of Delta, how long do you think they (in your case, American) will be keeping the 50 seaters around as well as coming to you with the rate resets? The reason why I am asking is because you are in the know of all of managements decisions.

Bit of history here:
In April 2013 we signed a new 5 year agreement with PSA Management.
At the last minute US Airways management threw in a "Career Progression" letter of agreement. This agreement said that they would take 3 people from PSA per month. Our MEC sold this as being the best contract they would be able to achieve and airways was anxious to get this signed because of the potential merger.

Then Airways went to Eagle and offered them a larger RJ proposal. Eagle declined so management came to PSA.
Our Negotiating Committee had talks for 2 months? maybe more maybe less i don't know. They were very quiet about the deal.
Then in Sept we got offered the new TA from Airways management to vote on.
The new deal said that we would get 30plus large RJ's. In exchange for f/o pay caps and Captain pay caps.
We would also have an increase of 4 pilots per month to airways. Actually 48/year. If you get hired in January you may get held at PSA till Dec. But 48 must go in a calendar year.
The 50 seat aircraft may or may not stay. I was told by our NC that the airplane leases were good till 2019, now nobody knows.
We may get bigger airplanes and keep the 200's. Or we may lose 2 200's in exchange for 1 900. (Very bad for everyone).
My crystal ball says that the 200 start to disappear when or if the larger rj's arrive.
