I Love PSA

I'm pretty sure the point he is making is that not everyone at PSA voted for this TA. In fact 144 of us voted against. Many weren't not eligible to vote at all, and some are just now joining the company. The blanket statement made by that hole nancy, (we are all scum bags), is bound to raise a few eye brows. Hey nancy, what's your resume and accomplishments look like compared to this new psa "scum bag"?

I don't see how. Nancy is calling PSA pilots scumbags. That includes me. The implication is that Nancy is then not a scumbag. I just want to know what standard I'm bring measured against. Hey I'm all about self improvement so let's have it nancy. What exactly makes you not a scumbag like me or this retired fighter pilot just joining PSA?

Ok, hold on. I believe the majority of pilots out there are not going to give PSA pilots the finger just because they wear a PSA uniform. I hope anyone who would flip the bird to a pilot just because of who they work for will change their tune. There are much better, more effective ways to make a change.
I know, as well as most anyone else I talk to, that there are still a number of pilots at PSA who voted no to try to prevent capping pay scales and increasing insurance costs (which are viewed by most anyone as concessionary). We know that there are many more that didn't get the chance to vote or recently just got hired.
That being said, there are people on here who support and applaud what happened with the new contract at PSA. First, you cannot count future upgrades and new planes, which are uncertain events, as a guarantee. A pilot cannot go to a bank looking for a loan for a house or whatever and say, "next year I'm going to make xxx dollars because I was told I would get upgraded." That logic when looking at your contract is flawed. Is your pay going to go up the second that agreement goes into place?
My question is whether or not the "no" voters are now happy to stay at PSA. Are you happy now with what happened? Are the new pilots going to PSA happy to have the new contract that the others voted in. Who cares about the guys from the other airlines and what they think. Are y'all happy to be working under a management system that is banking your increased pay on uncertain events happening? When the US Airways group is posting profits in the 100s of millions of dollars per quarter range, then why shouldn't y'all get a piece of that?? I'm not certain but I think I saw earlier that y'all get a small financial reward (I believe around 50 bucks per quarter is what I saw and if I'm wrong please correct me) for rewarding good reliability. If that number is true, however, that's a slap in the face! Typically I'll get between 500 and 600 bucks every quarter from my company, entirely voluntarily by the way as it's not in any contract for them to do so. Our quarterly profits are in the 20 million dollar per quarter range vs y'all at the 400 million dollar per quarter range. Y'all deserve a much bigger piece of the pie for the hard work y'all do! We are bargaining for improved pay scales and improved work rules and certainly no backwards movement in pay scales or work rules or anything of the sort. We are just bargaining for more money because we deserve it. The pilots at PSA deserve the same! So does each and every regional pilot. Those who are upset on these boards to see anyone have their pays scales capped at 4 years are right to be upset (not right to be so crude and rude in giving the bird to any PSA pilot they see walking by), because we hate to see y'all taking a concession. I would be furious and put in my 2 weeks the second I was told management would treat me that way.
Sure, we all should hope for the best and the way things look, we will hopefully all be at a Delta or United or US Airway in the near future but that doesn't mean we should just accept a contract that would reduce our earning income if some unforeseen event happens. What if the FO's end up staying at PSA past year 4. I would feel cheated and I would not "love PSA" for creating an environment that could hurt the pilots. It's not a gamble worth taking.
Of course any pilot who is on this forum loves to fly. No one would make all the sacrifices and take all the risk required to get to the 121 world if they didn't. The big difference is what we do once we get into the 121 world. How do we vote? Most pilots view the PSA yes voters as pilots willing to take a step backwards in pay (pay scale caps and increasing the health care costs) to gamble on an uncertain future.
It is a gamble we don't have to take. We deserve so much better than what we have right now and so does every pilot that follows our footsteps. Lets make the pay scales start creeping upwards. We should be telling management we will only take bigger planes if they pay us more for it! Improve our entire company pay scale and then sure we will be happy to fly new planes for you. Otherwise they can pound sand. Could you imagine if every pilot group had that mentality?? They would have to offer us more money. I'm hopeful this idea spreading. I hope the PSA group can perpetuate this idea next time around. It's disgusting how little we make!! WE ALL DESERVE MORE MONEY!! AIRLINES ARE POSTING PROFITS WE HAVEN'T SEEN IN A LONG TIME! LETS GET SOME OF THAT MONEY BACK INTO OUR POCKETS! We don't need the dangled carrot of new planes or the fear of a shutdown to scare us. The shortage is already visible. Please, for the sake of every other regional pilot right now and those to be hired in the future, get in the mindset that we should be working for better contracts and not worse contracts. Talk to anyone who thinks concessions are necessary right now to rethink that mentality. Just take a hard look at all the airlines we can go work for and ask which one deserves you. I know it's more complicated than that due to bases and upgrade times, etc., but it is invaluable to work for a company that treats its pilots well. Based on what I saw in the new PSA contract I would be upset with management. Do the pilots at PSA not feel the same way? Do you not see why you deserve better than that?
Sorry, rant over...I hope the best for everyone...

I won't rant about how PSA sold their souls for 30 shiny jets... But don't cheerlead how PSA did and everyone supports them and wishes them the best, it will get you nowhere.

Not if mainline jobs continue to disappear due to pilots like PSA's taking concessions to get aircraft on property. (yes, scope is the other issue) Although I'm convinced PSA would have taken concessions for more 50 seaters also.

The get your time and get out theory is true. However if you torpedo the regional you leave behind those repercussions will follow you to your major career. Low costs and poor work rules at the regional level pulls more flying from the majors. The best way to get the flying back at the major level where you can make a career of this industry is to make it cost ineffective to farm our flying.
I don't understand why you guys can't figure that out.
