I Love PSA

460/180 I've been fortunate to have a gig, albeit part time, in addition to my full time non-aviation "real job" the I've had since completing my multi. It's in the plane that I got my multi in so every hour I've flown since has been multi. I've also been flying a 310 and I have a small amount of time in a Cheyenne. I feel your pain on the school loans thing. Luckily my wife makes good $. If not for her income I wouldn't be able to take a job at a regional. If I get an offer, it will be a pay cut for me but only for a couple of years. You find ways to make the money work out if you want "it" bad enough, whatever your "it" may be. I have to pass the interview first. Anybody got any tips? Good luck to all.

I'm not on reserve but one of my roomates was till last month. You pretty much get called out on day 1.
As far as a Crashpad, it doesn't help much, but Im running one till September. If you don't find anything then you are welcome to stay for the rest of this and next month.

How long was your friend on reserve? If I choose not to get a crashpad are there cheap hotels to stay at? Thanks

Sure. Go to m?yp[i]lotcareer.com, aviation interviews.com and willflyforfood.com. Be sure you know the test questions and answers. All the gouge for it is right there as well as the sim profiles. For those of you that put your stuff in, last I heard they are still sorting through the month of Mays' apps, so sit tight, it may be a while before you get a call or email. Use the time to study up on the gouges. Best to all that apply.

Once you make it to sim, you're most likely hired. They're just looking for basic instrument skills and your scans. Glad most of you made it? How many were there and their experience levels? You should get a call within the week! I assume this is for mid aug class?

Day 1 would be great. I would like to find out more about the crashpad. What is the cost? Location from airport and transportation? What does it consist of for beds etc?

That's good to hear. There were six of us there a d I was by far the lowest time guy. Next closest was like 600/300. I think JB said it would most likely be august. Could be a small break between INDOC and Sim due to the lack of sims and instructors. Could be outsourcing our sim class so maybe we go to Phoenix instead of Charlotte. I'm excited about the opportunity. Thanks to all for the info.

Yes mins are dropping because I have WAY less than posted and I interview on 7.14
I hate hearing all the negative talk about PSA right before I interview but I try to put things in perspective. It's a regional airline and pretty much all of them have a lot of similarities. They all have something about them that you love or hate. Maybe the "new" contract will improve things.
I know the negative....anyone care to fill me in on what to expect that's positive?
To all those that post.....thanks for the info provided on the forum. It helps out all us newbs.

1. Commutability: If you don't plan to live in base, CLT trips are almost all commutable on both ends. This assuming you're a line holder ofcourse, and no one can predict how long that will take. When I was a bottom line holder, I went months without buying a single hotel room. In order to achieve this however, you will be sacrificing number of days off and weekends.
2. Cancellation Pay: This may not seem like a big deal but it is. During the winter months when half of your 4 day gets cancelled for storms, and you end up only blocking 10 hours you'll be glad thats in the contract. It's not something worth boasting about. I only mention it becuase some airlines actually don't have this from my understanding.
3. Travel: PSA and PDT employees travel on all US Air flights as same priority as mainline employees, "SA3". Also, you recieve 6 one way #1 priority passes per year. If someone senior to you uses one of their "SA1" passes, you're still bumped. As a communter, this saved my a** a few times. PSA and PDT pilots are also second in priority behind mainline pilots for the flight deck jumpseat. First come first serve bases.
Not too much to boast about like I said. Let me ask you, did you apply anywhere else?
