I was wondering if you guys that work for PSA now, have any insight on the CRJ contract that is due in a couple of years? Will they renew or get rid of the CRJ 200 and if so do you think they would close down TYS and DAY?

Do you guys know what the upgrade time is currently? A couple people were saying 3 1/2 years and others were saying 5 years.

Thanks for responding.

The leases begin expiring somewhere around 2015-2017 I believe. What US Air will do with us then is anyones' guess. Being owned by a major airline has it's disadvantages. For example; when they need to cut back regional feed, guess where it comes from. Contract carriers have minimum flying guaranteed. As far as upgrades; most junior CA hired May 2007. Today they opened a bid for a class of 2 (not a typo) upgrades. Safe to say it's slowing down.

The 2 upgrades announced today are an addition to the 6 upgrades that were awarded last week. So 8 upgrades in the next class. But you're right, probably done upgrading for the year unless majors start hiring soon.

Thanks for all the information and replying. Are any of you based in TYS and live there? If so how often are you at home? If you guys knowing what you know now would you go to work for PSA or Compass? I have an interview with PSA in a couple of weeks.
Thank you.

Thank you.
No question about it, would have gone to Compass. I thought about applying and leaving PSA back then, but during the Northwest/Delta merger there was some uncertainty about Compass and Mesaba. Would've been CA now with flow through to Delta (if I got hired). Hindsight 20/20 I guess.

If you're based in TYS, you'll pretty much have to live there as most trips are not commutable. I was based there for about 6 months. Lots of 5 am shows and late finishes. With regards to being home: reserve gets you 10 days/month off, so depends on if you're being used. Line holders can expect 12-14 off.
