Looks like PSA is trying to get the city of Dayton to fund another MX hangar at DAY.

Dayton wants to borrow $5M for PSA - Dayton Business Journal

If Nashville really did offer up free hangar space, and is on the short list for possible new MX/crew base, I hope this doesn't degrade their chances if approved :-/

I was on AA777 international route and met an elderly couple. They noticed that I was reading an aviation related book and started talking. Apparently their son is an FO at a regional (they didn't know which regional) and he got his parents their first class tickets.

I thought only economy class on standby' for immediate family members are allowed? Anyone know how this was possible?

There is an option when you book them for first class. It costs about $100 for international. As long as there are open seats, it is great.

Tell that to my 7-8 year FOs that far more deserve the left seat than anyone with a year or two at an airline. Better yet, tell it to their families.

Open seats at the time of reservation or at the gate after upgrading revenue passengers on elite tiers etc???

And can you use that particular kind of booking for anyone other than immediate family members as long as you pay?

Tell your 7-8 years FOs they aren't entitled to anything and if they want the left seat so badly they can apply to PSA, Mesa, Compass, TSA, and soon Piedmont. I was stuck in the right seat for longer than anyone at Envoy and I made the sacrifice so I have no sympathy for someone in this hiring environment to complain about upgrade times.

After all the revenue pax have boarded, they start going through the nonrev list in priority order. If at that time they get down to your priority on the list, and there's a seat on the aircraft, you get on the aircraft. If there is a seat in business class, and you've purchased the upgrade, welcome to business class. If you've purchased the upgrade and there is no seat in business class, that upgrade stays in your "bank" for later use, or is refunded after one year.

I don't think you can apply the upgrades to buddy passes, but someone else will have better info than I have.

You can apply upgrade to buddy passes. My friend who used my buddy passes has used it when we travel.

I'm confused. I thought buddies passes are something you can give out and they do their own reservation.

The parents of one of AA regionals FO, that was a booking done by the FO? Since you can list immediate family members for unlimited standby on economy.

I'm sorry I think just completely confused myself.

Upgrades to first and business are unlimited. Buddy passes can sit in first or business. Domestic first is a waste of money in my opinion. International first and business is worth it though. Right now, Usairways employees can not use buddy passes on American, hopefully that changes soon.
