Hell, looks like every new CA everywhere is on reserve forever. Might as well be on an aircraft you like.

Plus he runs the very real risk of being bumped off the jet.
Envoy will junior man you off an airplane??

Yea when junior FO’s get displaced to CA they get whatever their seniority can hold. Which means the possibility of a DEC being bumped out of a base or equipment.

Small possibility but it’s still there.

Not really, that’s the seniority game and it is what it is. Plus DEC’s get a 40+k signing bonus.

I’d highly recommend when making your decision on where to go to base it off of the airline’s contract, QOL, work rules, pay, etc over worrying about if they fly the “sexy jet”. That should be the last thing that matters, not the first. And when it comes down to it, it’s still just an RJ.

There’s a financial reason to go mesa. When you upgrade the note on your initial bonus is forgiven and you have just a one year training note for Captain. You could leave after 14 months and be free when normally that initial bonus has a 2 year commitment.

Not really.

Just read a reply in another thread about many E175 CA's getting picked up by JetBlue and AA because its the same type rating as the E190. So I'd say it's definitely a more desirable type for some carriers.

What do you think about Mesa vs. the couple of regionals offering $45-$50k for DEC's and Near=DEC's?

I'm leaning towards a Near-DEC position since I've been out of the game for a while. Give me some time to shake off the rust.

Maybe in some cases - but the majors want 1000 TPIC over a type rating. Careful not to drink that “wing mounted turbine time” koolaid - it’s still an RJ no matter how shiny the jet is.
