Not if you upgrade.

Have you looked at Mesa's CA rates compared to the rest of the industry? Have you compared work rules?

Why the snark from everyone? I'm just asking questions. Y'all sound like a bunch of jealous snowflakes that don't have the time to upgrade and are just being ****y because I do.

A simple yes or no would have sufficed.
Because when someone said you have SJS, you said no then proceeded to say it's a sexy jet... that's pretty much the definition of SJS.

Pay rates, work rules and domiciles should be the only the thing your worried about.

Unless it's a plane I've already flown, I wouldn't even want to do a DEC position at an airline, especially if this is my first airline.

This maybe true if you're trying to get on with a regional who only has that type of fleet. What if that new hire gets put in the Airbus at jetBlue or 737 at AA? This is why the majors don't care what type you have. You still have to go through the same footprint as the rest of the new hire. You're focusing on something that doesn't make you stand out. Attending job fairs, Letter of recommendation makes you stand out. jetBlue cares more about the volunteer work you've done than the type of airplane you've flown in the past.

I seriously thought "SJS" was a reference to San Jose State. Lol

Why not? If you meet the minimums, why wouldn't you? You'd rather fly as an FO? If I had been flying regularly over the past year, I'd jump all over a DEC position. The only thing stopping me is my currency and the reason I will try to get a Near-DEC position.

The goal of everyone at a regional, except for lifers, is to get TPIC and a DEC position is the quickest way to do it.

And this is not my first airline job, it's just been a while.

Because you’re learning a whole new aircraft and a whole new FOM. And you are going to be expected to perform to standard, no matter how long it’s been since you’ve been in the cockpit. Also, your checkride is going to largely consist of decision making. Here’s an abnormal situation, captain. What are you going to do? Okay... that decision you just made... is it within FOM? Are you... SURE? Didn’t you know you could have just fixed the problem by turning this system on?

You have a brain fart and confuse the last company’s FOM for the current one. Honest mistake, could happen to anyone, especially under duress. But guess what? Here’s your disapproval, try again next week.

I agree, that's why I'm most likely going the Near-DEC route.

Too risky to do the DEC gig with my lack of currency.
