Lets call it unrealistic when it stops working, mmkay?
Remember. 3 years ago people here said it’s unrealistic and company was on crack to say flow will be 5 or 6 years. And what happened?

Pretty sure it's still about 8 years. Projections mean nothing. You are obviously fairly new to this industry and haven't studied its history much. Even your own carrier's.

I’m just one person with one view point. I don’t represent the pilot group. ALPA MEC has communicated to ENY pilots about the facts many times, I’m sure you have read his newsletters dera. You know the pilot group stance on Reserve rules.
Words are powerful, the poster I quoted used the word “horrible”, that is not a word I would use. Yet the facts remain. We are behind current industry standards. Other leading carriers you know their names. It is multiple carriers. They have negotiated with their company.
I will admit Reserve rules at ENY can overall seem great to the right person, but that is not the majority who commute like the rest of the industry!
No secret ENY is behind industry standards with “Eagle” work rules. A vaguely interpreted contract language by the company, while pilots file grievances believing they have been wronged, wanting to be made whole. This industry has changed.
We can focus on the facts, ENY Pilots took bankruptcy concessions and post bankruptcy concessions not to be Comair 2. While other carriers have advanced reserve and work rules ENY wants more concessions just to negotiate reserve rule. These are the facts.
We know Company views that there is no problem and ENY is going for great, but things can always be better for both parties.
Doug Parker CEO said it best “We have a business that’s been transformed, but the culture hasn’t been transformed, and that holds us back” according to what he told Fortune. He also said “It’s one thing to build trust with a group, but it’s completely different to regain trust when you’ve lost it,” says Parker. “We just have to do trustworthy things over and over and over again every day.”

It’s just that I find it hard to see where we really lack behind many other regionals in a meaningful way. If you want to find the real bottom dwellers, you have places like CommutAir, who ONLY use standby reserves. I don’t know anyone who commutes to reserve, and is happy about it.
I think the real issue is that our 145 guys sit reserve longer than average. But if you commute to reserve at Endeavor, you will hate it just as well (and do it just as long).

What’s wrong with 8 years? Is there a rule barring you from applying elsewhere before you flow?
Didnt think so.

Lol. You've been following it for almost 20 years yet you are completely clueless about what's happening in the industry around you? Yeah, not buying it kiddo.

Unless you live in base, the main reason you took that job is for the carrot like everyone else at an AA WO. There’s plenty of people that came from where I did that went to one of those carriers for the glorious “you can be a future American Airlines pilot” with no effort deal.....as long as you accept the ********* lifestyle we’ll offer you for the next 8 years.
Your contracts will never compete with the top tiers unless your group gives up on the carrot.

So read this very carefully. The flow will not be around in 8 years. It’ll start trickling in the next 3 to 5 years, believe me.

And go back 4-5 years, and you'll find people saying the same thing about trickling the flow etc. Guess what. They were all wrong.
To me, nr.1 thing is still to live in base. There is no regional contract anywhere worth commuting for. That's why I canceled my class date with Republic, and told Endeavor no thanks.

Flow survived 9/11. It survived 2008. Let me know what happens next that will shut it down.

Killing flow won’t get any meaningful contract gains as long as AA has the ability to whipsaw its WOs.

Not necessarily DEC, but Mesa based in IAH could be your best bet. Go through the entire new hire program as an FO, then bid it afterwards; you won’t get awarded it in training since you need internal recs from a line captain. Few upgrading early as 3 months once online. Reserve for life.... but hey, you’ll feel like you’re flying for “mainline”...then you see your paycheck!
