That may very well be the case. The 900 sim here in MSP is fully booked. One sim can't handle all the trainees. Of course, that's why Denver is there, too.

I got pushed back today as well. From the Saab 1/5 class to the 900 2/2 class. I am also wondering why?

They must have cut back the Saab class and/or delayed it. Or they could have figured out that they are going to lose more 900 FOs to upgrades than Saab FOs. There is really no other explanation that I can think of.

The sim here in Denver is completely backed up as well until January with people from the NOV 3rd Class. The people here at CAE told us they have a contract to train Mesaba people until July, so I assume if they are paying CAE to train people there will be people to train.

Don't forget that it's not just newhires taking up sim time. There are more and more of us now to go through a recurrent every 6 or 12 months too.

The 900 sim being backed up doesn't seem to explain cancellation or delay of a Saab class, although, like Jayray said, i suppose it could be a change in company needs on the 900. I suppose with so much movement in the Saabs they are losing a substantial amount of 900 FOs...further bottlenecking classes for the jet. Oh well...an airplane is an airplane...Saab or 900 FO pay is the same.

I got that same call last night. Still on the 900.

So true. Those of you getting class date changes, it reflects shifting priorities and a massive training requirement.

Recurrent Training
Upgrades to Capt. in both SAABs and CRJs
FO movement from SAABs to CRJs
Initital FO training in both aircraft.

Enter the changing ops requirements and demands on training. The need to have a specific number of aircraft types / crews available at designation locations to meet "about to be published" schedules DRIVES the training schedule. Small changes in the schedule can cause siginificant changes in the training requirements.

Next consider the limitations of simulators and instructor availability. Mesaba can dedicate its CRJ sim to Mesaba but Denver probably has other customers as does the factory simulator training center. If you look around, you will probably meet some very tired sim instructors.

Feel sorry for the training schedulers. Their shifting of your class date reflects the realities of the situation.
