Let's just say that this was actually going to happen. Would our 50's be replacing the freedom flying in JFK and then the 70s taking over for the 50s in CVG? How much more flying would it be? Since I know there is no way that the company would rerun the lines for March, would all of this flying basically be made up by abusing the reservists? After all, Comair takes 1st place for using a reserve schedule as a bendable line.
Freedom is moving their 50 seat airplanes to cvg. Comair takes the equivalent number of 50 seat aircraft from cvg and moves them to JFK. No not gain or loss in flying for either carrier.

I think you miss understood him. Why would there be a need for 70's to replace 50's in cvg.

I don't have many details about COBRA, other than it was going to cost way too much per month. I went to ehealthinsurance and found a plan there for a LOT less. I'm sure the coverage is not quite as good, but I just need basic coverage. This was just for me also, the cost may differ if you're looking to cover a family. I'm not certain, but I believe the stimulus package includes some kind of aid for COBRA, like paying for 65% of it? I'm sure others out there have more info about that. Even if that's the case going through an independent company will still be cheaper for me. Hope that helps some.
Yeah, the old style 102% COBRA I heard was way out of possiblity. But the 65% subsidy seems like that might bring it back to a reasonable level. I just have no idea of a starting point of what it would cost before/after the gov't subsidy. Fortunately/unfortunately, Comair has a fairly decent medical package. A similiar individual package would be too costly.

I had the opportunity to talk privately with JB today after the meeting in Concourse A, and he said they had got enough people to take the early out so they shouldn't have to furlough any more pilots, or flight attendants. He also mentioned we're picking up the JFK flying from Freedumb in April. Will basically be a swap in flying between us and FD, they in CVG us in JFn'K. Not really any increase.
OK, so my buddy talked to forecasting and planning today about the COLA that he would have been awarded, but that was retracted and he had some interesting things to say that would support your conversation with JB. They told him that there was going to be a lot of training taking place between April and June due to the fact that we are going to moving a bunch of 50 flying up to JFK to take over the Freedom stuff. I guess he was asking them about his release date in reference to the early out program that he is taking part in and they told him it would be contingent on staffing levels that are definitely going to be changing with the new displacement bid. From what he said, the company doesn't see a need to have 70% of the pilot group based in CVG when the majority of the flying is in the NE. He said they also told him that it was 50 flying and not 700/900. So I guess so far JB is still speaking truth and not blowing smoke.
How bad/good is this new displacement going to be? I have been looking at some of our flight loads and they aren't pretty. Maybe it's just me, but how can a company make money when your flying mostly empty A/C around? I expect more bad news, read somewhere in just this country alone, 18,000 jobs are lost daily. I see a storm coming.
One more thing, with this mesa stuff, does anyone think that a settlement is more likely than a win? It's taking a while for the court to decide this.
I'm focusing in on this bit here quoted - the only reason I could see training is displacement from 70/90s, furlough recalls or upgrades. I'm just curious as to why training would be required in this instance.
