I know the mood wasn't very good down on the ramp when I did the walk around. Have you seen CVG lately?

As a former ACS agent for Comair, I'm sure you know plenty of former Delta ramp agents who can answer your question.
I'm not sure that Onautopilot was ever a pilot at Comair.

As for outsourcing, maybe you should look to your management when complaining about it. They are still doing it.

There is a lot that happened behind the scene that most of us don't know or ever will understand...is always an individuals pleasure to re direct or polarize the blame,...they did this or that, is not my fault or is your fault , or we did it because they did that. The fact is management needed to respond in accord to economics, I know I might not be well educated on this, but please stop thinking on the past, focus on what is happening right now in the industry, actions of few doesn't mean all agreed upon on.....This thread is funny, grow up people, is business.....

Remember Comair!!
Herc, my comment to remember Comair is about standing up to management Tyranny, pure and simple.
When Northwest bought Delta, Richard Anderson made no secret of the hatred he felt toward Comair and its' pilot group. He was determined to teach everyone in the regional industry this is what happens when you dare to change the status quo. I spoke to him face to face personally at a meeting in CVG at a Delta only meeting and when I mentioned Comairs' future he looked at me like I strangled his wife. I knew then it was over.

I as well as other pilots went to Comair during a time of economic turmoil. Comair hired us, I worked as a CSA and we couldn't wait for the Comair to start growing again, as we would be transferred to flight ops. However Richard had something else in mind and carried it out, in the process throwing a huge wrench in thousands of peoples' lives, namely all of CVG.

You can try to argue that point but look at what he did to Endeavour (Pinnacle) trying to force a concessionary contract on them (poverty wages) at a time when Delta is making RECORD PROFITS. Did he not say that if Endeavour didn't accept the contract they would become the next Comair?

What about the Eagle Pilots? US Airways group is also making record profits but told Eagle if you don't take these concessions we will make you Comair 2. If management can use Remember Comair as a rallying cry to screw over a professional labor force then we as pilots can use it to remember a group of professionals that stood up to management tyranny and said no more!

Now about your Vendetta against Comair pilots - so an entire workforce had it out to screw over Delta mainline pilots so that is the reason he shut Comair down? All 2000+ pilots? SERIOUSLY????? Herc I am going to defer this to someone in the know or I am sure if you did a search of this thread, type in Comair MEC or management,
perhaps that may enlighten you. I personally have yet to meet one Comair pilot that had it out for you guys. But please, opposing views are always welcome here.

Lets' face it, Deltas' current CEO is a complete anal orifice who Eagles' manangement tried to copy and I watched with pleasure as it blew up in their face. This fight this phrase to REMEMBER COMAIR is not about Delta and Comair pilots ****ing match, its' about management trying to intimidate a work group into concessions or be shut down like Comair and that work group, any work group saying yes, we remember Comair and we're not taking it anymore just like they didn't!!

Also, I would like to go on the record as a Comair pilot (Ret.) that when JC Lawson wrote that famous letter he did not ask me to proofread it for him. It is the opinion of most of the people that I have talked with that JC pretty much went off the reservation with that letter. Also, one might form the opinion that SOME Delta pilots were just looking for an excuse, any excuse, to take out their frustration on all Comair pilots.I don't think most Delta pilots are that small.

During the Comair strike in 2000, as an attempt to narrow the gap between RJ pay and mainline, Delta pilots sent Strike Assesment checks and ensured that no Mainline metal was used to cover a Comair route as struck work. I was an FE on the 727 and it was my job to check the DALPA guide book we had so that mgmt couldn't break the Comair strike out of CVG. After a few months, mgmt agreed to make the Comair pilots the best paid in the industry. We thought we had helped the Comair pilots bring the piloting profession up closer to what it should be.

This was in 2000, and we were in the middle of C2K negotiations for mainline. In return for record payrates, DALPA agreed to unlimited 50 seat RJ's to help feed the mainline operation. We signed C2K in the summer of 2001..and 9/11 hit in September.

Let me be clear. I know there are good guys at Comair and Delta. I just don't like re-writing history as if Comair was a helpless victim without any responsibility for their demise.

We offered the first "preferential" interview deal for Comair guys in return for letting furloughed mainline pilots swing the gear.

We got the middle finger for our efforts..and that's why there is such an emotional response to the name "COMAIR"...at least from 1310 Delta pilots..
Do you think that if the Comair pilots were offered this deal that we would have turned it down for ANY reason? We had no opposition to hiring furloughed Delta pilots. The thing was, no one asked us. We never had a vote asking us about any of this. If we did have a vote it would have passed with no problem.

Delta pilots have this thing against Comair pilots, but it should really be directed at Comair Management. They were the ones that wouldn't agree to hiring the furloughed Delta guys. It was a long time ago, but I think management didn't want to deal with the increased training costs associated with training guys that were going to get recalled and then have a deal that increased the chances of pilots leaving.

I can assure you, you didn't get the middle finger from the Comair pilots. 80+% of us wanted to get out of Comair and would have done anything to get to Delta.
