I am glad to see Eagle, ExpressJet and all other pilot groups(some exceptions of course) remembered the Comair pilots and their fight for a fair contract. Though management used the "remember Comair" and "Comair II" scare tactic, you guys and gals as fellow pilots have shown that by your actions you do remember Comair.


Keep up the fight!!!!

To the orifice that is now running Delta Airlines:

Yeah, I remember COMAIR..

You're the same *********s that cashed our strike assessment checks in 2000 while we honored your struck work out of CVG to make you the highest paid RJ pilots in the industry..how were we repaid? You guys stabbed all the furloughed Delta pilots in the back after 9/11.

Yeah, I remember Comair..the same *********s who refused to let furloughed Delta pilots sit in the right seat of CRJ's in return for preferential hiring at Delta without giving up their seniority number and eliminating all scope.

Yeah, I remember Comair..the same *********s who enjoyed explosive growth and 1000's of hrs of TPIC time on the backs of furloughed Delta pilots. I bet you still haven't flown a single passenger with a ticket with the same name that you have on your paycheck.

You *********s got exactly what was coming to you. Just think..if you had welcomed furloughed Delta pilots to raise the gear for you in return for their support during your strike..you'd be headed across the pond on an ER right now for some free brews bought by former Delta furloughees. Instead..you're the scourge of the industry and an example of what not to do.

Congrats..*********..you're right, payback is a biutch..

Here are some more memories of COMAIR..

I remember Delta parking all the 727, 737, and many M88's so that COMAIR could hire 60-100 pilots a month to staff UNLIMITED 50 seaters..

I remember sitting reserve at the Signature Inn off I-75 after my 3rd displacement waiting for my number to come up while Delta furloughed 1310 pilots and their families so Comair pilots could upgrade to the left seat of a shiny new jet within a year..

I remember sitting at Starbucks at CVG on short call when I got the phone call notifying me of my furlough date as I watched Comair crews fly jets hub to hub and non-rev to Paris in first class..

I remember JC Lawson and Dan Ford forming the RJDC and suing the same union that supported them during their strike.

I remember furloughed Delta pilots out for 8 yrs before being offered recall..meanwhile Comair Captains log 5000?, 8000? Hrs of TPIC while furloughed Delta pilots wonder when their unemployment checks run out..

I've got plenty of shots left..bring it..

Please don't take this as an attack; it is not intended as one... I am young and likely ignorant, and I could probably use the history lesson if you'd like to give one...

But who was it that let the scope "cat" out of the bag? Was that invented during bankruptcy, or had mainline pilots started selling the "little airplane" flying before that"

Delta bought COMAIR before I was hired in 99 and they were the first "all jet" feeder to use the CRJ. During the Comair strike in 2000, as an attempt to narrow the gap between RJ pay and mainline, Delta pilots sent Strike Assesment checks and ensured that no Mainline metal was used to cover a Comair route as struck work. I was an FE on the 727 and it was my job to check the DALPA guide book we had so that mgmt couldn't break the Comair strike out of CVG. After a few months, mgmt agreed to make the Comair pilots the best paid in the industry. We thought we had helped the Comair pilots bring the piloting profession up closer to what it should be.

This was in 2000, and we were in the middle of C2K negotiations for mainline. In return for record payrates, DALPA agreed to unlimited 50 seat RJ's to help feed the mainline operation. We signed C2K in the summer of 2001..and 9/11 hit in September.

Let me be clear. I know there are good guys at Comair and Delta. I just don't like re-writing history as if Comair was a helpless victim without any responsibility for their demise.

We offered the first "preferential" interview deal for Comair guys in return for letting furloughed mainline pilots swing the gear.

We got the middle finger for our efforts..and that's why there is such an emotional response to the name "COMAIR"...at least from 1310 Delta pilots..

Let me stop you right there. "Delta pilots" didn't send strike assessment checks. ALPA pilots did.

I have a question for you. I worked at Comair on the ramp as customer service from 2003-2007. Does that make me an evil delta seat stealing villain?

My post was in response to Autopilot's "Remember Comair..payback's a Mother for Delta..Remember Comair" on the last page. Unfortunately I can't seem to get the quote function to work since I'm new to APC.

you're right, all ALPA pilots paid strike assessment checks..and they also paid COBRA benefits to furloughees..what's your point?

As for stealing Delta jobs, I don't know. I do know a lot of 30 yr Delta ACS agents lost their jobs and we're replaces by DGS rampers. Did you ever look over at A and B concourse while you were pushing back that Comair RJ? Did you stand next to them at McD's and overhear how they were losing their jobs while Comair replaced them? I know the mood wasn't very good down on the ramp when I did the walk around. Have you seen CVG lately?

As a former ACS agent for Comair, I'm sure you know plenty of former Delta ramp agents who can answer your question.
