That's also the only reason our aircraft have fire extinguishers and seatbelts.

This is not really news, but NPR today reported the [major] airlines had done a surprisingly good job of weathering the recession by cutting capacity. Though NPR made no mention of regional carriers, they reported that the mergers had allowed them to cut less popular flights. They went on to say that, though demand had rebounded and they are sitting on 25 billion dollars (including 4 billion dollars from baggage fees), they were not yet adding capacity. Merry Christmas! Seriously, Congrats to all who have found another flying job and best wishes that the rest will catch on when hiring again picks up across the industry. Wherever opportunity leads you, best wishes to everyone for a safe and a happy and prosperous 2011!

About a year ago, NPR did a short piece on not unemployed, but the vast number of people having to take big paycuts or those that were underemployed. They interviewed...a downgraded COMAIR pilot as one of those people! Of course the report screwed up when they said the pilot went from about $65 an hour to only $41 an hour. Que many people's comments that think pilots work 40 hour work weeks.

HAHA! That was JG, what he should have said was "I went from around $60K a year to around $30K a year"

You think they actually tell us pilots these things? We're usually the last ones to find out.
