Comair updates?

Do thorough pre-flights. We can't be taking off illegally with dents, chipped paint, burnt out nav lights, deep cuts in tires, peeling/fading N#'s and ship #'s, tears in cabin carpeting, missing placards, missing moulding, PSU lighs, grounding wires, etc... We've got to be sure these airplanes are 100% safe.
Just don't get toooo fancy!

Yes, thank you, Bubba. Pilots, please take your time legibly writing the MEL/CDL deferrals and doing thorough logbook reviews.
Also, read your NOTAMs before push back. You need to know every one of the 13 pages of NOTAMs for LGA and JFK>

This is a bit from union busting 101 and it not only applies to companies starting unions but even more to existing unions! Since FO's are now invited to the Captains Lunch it really seems to fit. I suggest ALL FO's boycott the Vage's Lunch!
Creating an illusion of progress
After vilifying the union, the second imperative of a union avoidance campaign is to humanize the executives in the eyes of workers. The goal is to portray the company as benevolent, compassionate, and caring. According to former union buster Martin Jay Levitt, managers might learn at seminars ways to market themselves through manipulation of perceptions, such as appearing more open and caring by relaxing certain rules.[29]
Management must temporarily submit to the guidance of consultants concerning all communications with employees. Examples of management's newfound kindness are publicized to all employees. Through surveys and interviews, the union buster develops a definite insight into who in management is trusted and liked, and who is not. The former are brought forward and become the new face of the company during the union organizing campaign, while the others are coached on masking or overcoming their dislikeable characteristics. Absent such transformation, their visible role is diminished.
"Give the workers just enough rope so that they believe they are off the leash, just enough to fool them into scorning the union. The golden rule of management control, as I taught it, was: incorporate dissent, institutionalize it. They would find, I promised my disciples, that dissension won't be half as attractive to the masses once the rebels are sitting down with the bosses...the cunning manager should embrace his workplace rebels. Be grateful for them, I offered, for they are your most effective shield against the union. If you can convince the activists that they'll accomplish more, perhaps have more power, without a union, why, you've won the war.[29]
Managers or owners may be asked to visit worksites and exchange jokes, gossip, and laughter with workers. The theme of company-as-family prevails, with the union portrayed as an upstart outsider. Only after a union organizing drive is defeated, might company executives be allowed to return to their "tyrannical" ways.

Plenty people took off with a questionably strong tailwind this morning. We calculated it at 13kts (tailwind, based off of the current tower report). Yet we were the only ones that refused to take off and waited for them to fit us in off of 31L. Eventually after another 12 planes (a couple that looked familiar also) took off and then they switched the airport around and let us depart.
Be Safe!

It's a repeat of the bankruptcy furlough. It was all a facade. They were JM'ing left and right, vacations were being moved and cancelled and constantly running out of reserves.
I really, really, really hope that every pilot that remains on property will avoid picking up EF and will bid the min line value. Last time, a few pilots had to have a few friendly reminders, ie. "notes" dropped in boxes. Although now that is extremely difficult if not impossible to police anymore.
Those that don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it...

I got this letter in the mail today, (10/2) explaining how uniform deductions will be taken from my paycheck(s). I am glad they are getting this out early so we can plan!!!
It also explains how pilots will have 60 days to pay any remaining balance from the flight store. Good thing they are giving ample amount of time to pay this back considering the time of furlough is during the holiday season and many of us have famlies to provide for. I guess Santa will be furloughed this year also, management is cutting back on reindeer, but they don't know it yet, they, along with all the eagerly awaiting children will receive a certified letter explaing this on Christmas Eve. Wait, that would be too much advance notice, the letters will be mailed Christmas Eve, and due to the holiday season they should receive their letters from Santa approximately 3 days after Christmas. It will say something like "you little sh*ts have not been bad this year so stop crying, you need to cheer up, your sadness is your own fault."
I don't like this anymore. I am ready to quit and I haven't even been here a year. That's too bad.
What a bunch of D*cks.
