Anyone know how the Compass flowthrough/back works? Here's a quote from this site:

"NWA pilots can flow back, however any Compass pilot turning down the flow through to NWA retains seniority over any NWA flowing back"

What if you're a junior Compass guy and you elect not to flow up. When someone flows down, do they go below you in the list if others above you have elected to flow up? This is just a hypothetical, but how would this work at Comair if some elected to flow up and other didn't? If the Delta guys start coming down, do they go below the most junior guy that didn't elect to flow up?

Alright here is what I know:

Next week there will be an announcement. The specifics of the announcement were not divulged but I can make some assumptions based on clues:

1. JS is selling his condo in Covington ($890,000)
2. Our MX has already started working on Mesaba aircraft, LEX closing
3. CVG's future as a hub
4. The future of CRJ700 NextGen's at DCI
5. Delta cleaning house in ATL, realizing the benefit of 'in-house'
6. The announcement will upset some, give hope to others

It looks like an announcement will be made regarding the combination of the current wholly owned DCI carriers and JS will not be at the helm. How the pilot group is integrated will upset some (Compass has a iron clad contract). Granted these things don't happen overnight, this announcement will get the ball rolling.

If you really think about all the little snippets we have been hearing, it makes sense and is probably inevitable.

On another note, in 3 days we shift into the ramped up schedule for the holiday season. All staffing models are red except for CRC's. Happy holidays!

When it is your turn to flow up and you decide to bypass it, your seniority gets locked in and all flowbacks will be below you. You also can not change your mind and elect to flow up later.

so you are correct.

How it works at Compass is up to 20 pilots a month can flow up, but not more than 25% of the seniority in a rolling 12 month calander. So the flow though would be offered to the top 20 guys at Compass. If one of those guys declines the flow through then he will have seniority over and mainline guys flowing down. The junior guys really do not have a say because if you are not in the top 20 at the time then it does not matter what you want and the mainline guys flowing down will have seniority over you. Make sense?

The problem with Comair getting a flow through agreement is that Compass and Mesaba had their agreements first. So when Delta starts to hire again the first available spots will go to Compass and Mesaba before Comair would be able to flow guys up. Delta would have to be hiring a massive amount of pilots a month for it to even be a benefit to us.

The way it's inteneded to read is that, any flow backs from Delta will be considered junior to those who declined to flow up. Now if you are a CA and you are not yet elligable for flow through, then the flow backs will be senior to you.

Interesting information. If the undisclosed buyer is Delta, there's no way these planes are going to Comair, so no sense getting our hopes up. I sure hope I'm wrong, though.
