A friend of mine says it was one of the best features on the Mighty Beech and was nearly as good as the radar on the 737.

Are you kidding? You're lucky if the wx radar can paint any real precip. Had to rely more on atc wx radar than the one in the plane. Hit or miss for sure.

What he said. The wx radar on our beech's can sometimes paint the ground if you aim it straight down. Sometimes.....

Ok , thanks all for your input.

In all fairness, I guess I should point out that my buddy was flying the 1900 in Wisconsin, where there's not a whole lot of mountains nor much precip that's not in the form of white fluffy stuff.

I would say the radar on the Mighty Beech is as good as the person using it. If you know what your doing and understand how to use it, it works fine for the most part. That being said, well maintained not so much. It wasn't uncommon to paint both sides of the radome when I was there...

Radar is almost always as good as the operator.

Back when I was flying freight, if the airplane even had radar, it was most definitely WORSE than the operator. I will give a special thanks to Garmin! :)

With all the regionals having same hiring reqs, is Lakes getting any apps? I have to believe they must be having trouble or will be soon.

I heard there are some disgruntled DL guys looking at them for the quick upgrade.
