Default Money, Money, Money

What would a 1st year Captain earn (after tax) at PDT?
Including bonus?
Excluding bonus?
Allowances?
Will my wife buy the latest Louis Vuitton bag, or the cheap copy from Hong Kong?
Will my kids eat, or will living in PHL take all the money in rent?

You are going to need to provide a lot more information if you want a after tax number.

Long call reserve would make me care less where the new base is.

What are some good areas close to PHL for a family that won't break the bank (close to $2k)? Will be looking for single family house 3/2 or 4/2.

I have lived in the Philly suburbs area for the past 9 years...Chester Springs, West Chester, Downingtown and Coatesville. The closer you are to the"mainline" the more expensive...areas like Ardmore and Devon, etc. Places like Coatesville, Pottstown, Doylestown would be less expensive. For example, there are some nice townhomes in the Chester Springs area that go for around $1800/mo (3bed/2 bath/garage). In some cases you might be able to find a 2-3 bedroom house for around $1500/mo. in Downingtown but nothing special (most houses around here are old and run down or really nice at $500,000+ .If I were moving here today I would look around Pottstown or Doylestown area. Drive to KPHL would be 1 hour.

Northern Delaware and New Jersey also have some great family neighborhoods. 30 minute drive will always depend on time of day, though.

Yeah I know. I meant 30 min in no/light traffic. Then again I keep forgetting about the rail too...
