Both seem to be good outfits, but the Texas commute might interfere with your QOL. At PDT you will upgrade faster. Have you looked at Envoy?

Do not commute for either. If you want to get away go to Eagle. Doesnt exactly sound like their schedules have improved much like ours. And whiskey... You will be extended and jr man drafted as much as possible due to their staffing levels. Mesa or express jet might be better options. Unless you want to fly in the east for some reason. My time at Pdt is running out, but if you have any specific questions PM me. Speaking about other airlines is hard not ever working for them. But I do know commuting definitely will keep you gone. And more than you want to.

Battlinbear... flow or getting plucked up elsewhere. I know a lot of people have many hot irons in the fire outside the flow.

Mesa is not a better option. Hell, it shouldn't even be an option.

To directly answer your question, PDT seems to be *somewhat* commutable from DFW. I'll be commuting from DFW, and with the company giving 2 hotel rooms per month to commuters, it seems palatable.

Can't speak to AW. But the captain needs at PDT are certainly there, so you could be bidding for a captain spot virtually at the end of your FO training.

My draft date is very close. where I moved to AA makes the most sense for QOL. I never commuted at Pdt and most likely will not have to at AA. I know commuting isn't bad for many, but for me. Negative. I would rather quit and pursue a different avenue of aviation than do a 2 leg or cross country commute. Of course it still could happen. But, I have a good chance of it not! Great to hear others leaving and not settling for only a small step fwd.

If he is 5 years from retirement, Envoy would be my go-to. He's going to be senior enough as a new hire to hold the 175 and that plane has better schedules than their other two.
At PDT he'd never see reserve, and upgrade quick, but the commute. Yuck.
