I may be wrong, but it's my understanding that the seat/equipment lock would not apply if one is bidding to a higher paying position.

Not sure they do, but it is still part of the overall agreement package is it not? Does it matter if it makes sense?

At face value it makes little sense but from what I've heard this caveat to the 20 e-175s was primarily written as an out for AAG. Let's say AAG wants to go with another carrier for the 175s, all they have to do is purposefully stonewall negotiations with the FAs or Mechanics and they are free and clear from their commitment.

Displacement and upgrade in type are the only ways out of the lock.

I think they took it anticipating $68/hr first year pay (Delta pay parity) early next year. If I was in the top 50 I'd seriously think about staying, I mean you're giving up 4 slots of vacation, a ton of seniority and QOL for the first few years, and one big spike in oil prices or a terrorist attack and you're on the street. Seems a little risky but whatever, to each their own.
Couple of small corrections- the flow went to #36 and I know 2 are commuters and not sure about the third.

Look for more senior out of base guys to go if these schedules continue.

Yea you're right, my bad. The 3rd is not a commuter but I think he wants to move out of base.

I'm expecting most of them to go. I think you'd have to be crazy not to at this point.

One thing is always certain: Piedmont executives are nothing more than middle managers of US Airways Group. They have no control over the aircraft they fly, or the schedules. They never have. They act and react at the direction of US Airways marketing department.

What they do periodically, is make announcements about different airplanes, schedules, mergers, etc., designed to create false hope and stem the tide of exodus, thereby saving training costs.

Proof of this theory can be found in the fact that nothing Piedmont management has suggested, or researched has ever come to fruition. Ever.

That pretty much holds true to any wholly owned subsidiary in the Airline Business.
