Rah 190's Confirmed For Midwest
#91
Coming from someone on the inside...
I just heard about this about an hour ago, and have talked to a few other FO friends here on the 170, and every single person I have talked to feels like ****. The agreement only includes 2 airplanes as of now, but its a bad precedent to set....
When it comes down to it, we must admit we are EMPLOYEES and not OWNERS and STOCKHOLDERS. In a capitalist system, companies are run for the benefit of the equity holders. All the talk on here of us "stopping" them from getting these stupid 190's is completely unrealistic and egotistical. HOWEVER, the one thing we have control over is demanding the compensation commensurate with an aircraft of that size. Our last contract negotiations took place at a time when the largest aircraft we flew was a E145, and our FO payscale was slightly above industry average for that type. Times have changed, and we are obviously no longer being paid a fair amount for an aircraft of that size or weight. We are in negotiations now, and I guarantee you we will be fighting for just pay! JetBlue pays $55/hr on 3rd year pay, and Airways pays $46. Right now our third year pay is at $35/hr....unacceptable! This WILL change in the next contract, b/c if it doesnt, every FO I know will vote no...
The way to stop the outsourcing of mainline jobs with these "ERJ"s is to remove the cost-savings incentive to do so, thats it folks.

Actually they should consult APA to find out what F100 pay was and start there...

I understand both sides of the spectrum but this doesn't only involve pilots, the flight attendants are being screwed too.

What you are failing to consider is that if these planes are configured to 99 seats, we already have a payscale in place. Did mesa have an established payscale for 737's.. did PSA have an established payscale for 900s? The difference may seem insignificant to you, but in reality it is huge. We will not be "asked" to fly these planes, we will not have a chance to "vote" to fly these planes. Under our current contract and a 99 seat config, we HAVE to fly these planes or face certain termination.
Exactly. We HAVE to fly these planes is they are 99 seats or less. Otherwise, I would loose my job. Which one of you would walk away from your job because of this. NO ONE on here would do that!!!! So please stop bashing RAH pilots because we have no power to control this.
Now. That being said, we will have control if they configure these for 100 seats. We do not have a payscale for that. And I hope to God that they are configured that way, so we can stop this. For those of you calling us SCABS; learn what a scab is first. Then stop. We cannot strike this work. Only Midwest can. We are waiting for that. We will set the brake.

Standing for what is right is never an easy proposition and we all have bills to pay. I am not calling you a scab by any means but your argument is exactly what scabs say as they cross picket lines. You are on regional FO pay it would not be to hard to find a job that pays at least equal to what you make now. It is the above mentality that has gotten this industry into the mess it is currently in. Everyone is out to get theirs and we all lose.

for all of you who are in a union but do not know what a scab is this is copied directly from wikipedia...A strikebreaker (also called scab or knobstick) is a person who works despite an ongoing strike. Strikebreakers are usually individuals who are not employed by the company prior to the trade union dispute, but rather hired prior to or during the strike to keep production or services going. "Strikebreakers" may also refer to be workers (union members or not) who cross picket lines to work.
technically a "strikebreaker" but scab will work too. last i checked midwest guys are not on strike.
all of you that are ****ed about this deal need to take it right back to the guys that let this happen. you were ****ed about mesa flying the 900 but i see skywest, mesaba, asa, pinnacle, freedom and comair followed suite and no one said a word. now since we at rah got the 190 you're all ****ed but when YOU all get the crj1000 i guess you'll walk off the job and tell the company you're not doing the flying RIGHT? luckily this is happening with an expired contract and we can fix it. it's on certificate and there's not a damn thing we can do about it except fight for fair pay. this is NOT a regional jet and i'll be damned if in the NEW contract we fly it for regional pay.

I've changed my mind. Republic pilots are scabs if they take this flying.
A DAL guy said he didn't have a dog in this fight. These things will be flying code share with Delta in the Midwest carve-out. This will put Delta pilots on the street as they get more 190s.

maybe they should strike first so we can be real scabs. we, like everyone else have a clause in our contract that says we will not fly struck work....no one's on strike.
