Yes you can call in sick. The FAA gives you ample fodder. Every hear of the FAA sponsored I'M SAFE checklist. It's called a temporary stress related disability. Work related so it's work comp. Any prospective employer is not allowed to know because of your protection by Hippa law. The company has no right to even know your diagnosis. That may only be released by your doctor to the companies work comp insurance company. The insurance company can't reveal your medical info to anyone without your authorization. If the company fires you at anytime you have a slam dunk lawsuit.
I really question someone's judgement when they can go to work in a safety related occupation where they are being used by management to destroy others careers and it isn't affecting their ability to do their job to the best of their ability. They are really a scab who hasn't had the opportunity to cross a picket line yet or like I said has poor judgement.

Midwest pilots have been in negotiations for 10-11 months. Started federal mediations in April.
Republic and Delta are going to play Midwest pilots against Republic pilots to get the lowest crew costs. JetBlue set the new industry standard for the E190 and we have to make sure Republic/Delta pay that crew cost at Midwest.
Midwest ALPA and Republic Teamsters have to stand their ground to protect the future earnings of our profession.

Don't worry about Prater. He'll only show up if there's something he can claim credit for doing, even if he was missing in action.
...of course of you tell him there's free scotch and cigars.......

As was mentioned earlier, there's no way Republic is going to be able to achieve the same pay rates as JetBlue. THERE'S NO WAY!!
Anybody who thinks that the RAH boys and girls are going to be able to score themselves FO pay of more than double what it is currently is smoking some pretty strong $h!t and I want some...

I am on second year pay and I make what a 8 year 170 captain makes at Republic. On third year pay, I will make more than a 11 year 190 captain at Republic. I also have work rules and a better retirement. The real kicker. I am a first officer on a 100-seat aircraft. The Republic pilots worship Brian Bedford. They think he is a business guru. His company makes money, they have had explosive growth, and have code shares with every legacy carrier there is. The truth is that Bedford is doing more harm to our industry than Lorenzo or Ornstein. It's time to wake up. My hope is Midwest goes away and Republic has no one to fly the 190's for. Unfortunately, I have heard a rumor that Republic has 12 190's on order. 2 is just what was announced officially.

OK, if someone called you a parasite, would that be OK?
What do you mean MAY lose their jobs? Seventy-five percent HAVE lost their jobs!
The reason your flights aren't full is that people are boooking around your crummy airline. The 717s are booked full everyday. The passengers know the difference between the real Midwest and the cheap imitation and what do you care anyway? Your leech of a company gets paid the same either full or empty so what do you care that your helping to destroy a service reputation that's been around for twenty-five years

Dude, here's the deal.
Republic Teamsters has control over your CEO because he can only fly E190 if Midwest stays alive. Only Republic or Midwest pilots can fly the E190.
The Midwest pilots will not agree to anything less then the JetBlue rates. If you negotiate a lower rate you will become a SCAB guaranteed and
don't even think about applying to another carrier!

It's not that simple and you're not seeing the big picture. Hence, I question your judgement. I'm pretty sure that organized sick outs are illegal. You're right that your employer can't disclose information about sick calls, but what your employer can tell your prospective employer is whether he would recommend you or rehire you. Lastly, if you're going to be sick for, let say a month, I believe you need FMLA paperwork filed by a doctor or a nurse.
Employers do not answer that question any longer. My wife does background checks and she can't remember the last time any company answered that question. All anyone does anymore is verify that they worked there for the specific time frame.

Check it out for yourself, Midwest Operations is the 717 departures and Skyway Operations lists the Repubic and Skywest departures.
And I wish I was 12, then I could be happy being a "$37 dollar a night trick" too
