What RAH is doing is more the same as what Gojets did. Come in with the big shiny jet fly it for pennies and hope that one day management with throw you a bone.. Not surprised both these airlines are represented by Teamster's. Is that their initial plan to always get the flying first?
Difference is anyone on property @ RAH was hired when the biggest thing we flew was an E175, and a Midwest codeshare wasn't even a blip on the radar. At GoJet, most were hired knowing they were directly crapping on TSA. But thats an argument for another thread.
What I really want to know, is why the E170/E190 program was scrapped at Midwest? You guys had the chance to fly these airplanes. I understand management wanted the YX pilots to do it for a lower rate, but at least you as a pilot group had an opportunity to bargain with management. At RAH, we don't have that opportunity except in our overdue CBA. I write this more as a sincere question than a criticism.

They didn't have an opportunity to bargain with management. They were offered YOUR payscales maxing out first officers at $37/hour or nothing. They decided it was better to lose their jobs with dignity than UNDERCUT the entire profession and become the lowest paid 170/190 operator in the world. These Midwest pilots had a career. They were not flying jets for part-time job wages like you guys. To them, it was about supporting a family. To you, it's a cool airplane and a lot of fun to fly. 10 years from now, there will be 12 year first officers at Republic still making $37/hour while inflation brings your pay to the equivalent of $20/hour today. Enjoy your career.

For the love of God people, REPUBLIC PILOTS ARE IN CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS!
Damn management for the loss of jobs, lament the payrates put in their contract in 2003 if you want (payrates more or less equivalent to ARW B146 rates) that are now being applied to a currently-mainline airplane...but give those pilots an opportunity to surprise everyone before the "s" word starts getting ignorantly thrown around...

I don't see how that will help. That only means that the company will be operating the aircraft at the LOWEST(junior) pay rates! The company will be thrilled. They aren't exactly going to say "ooo, the pilots made a statement and maybe we should listen." Maybe I am a little off base here but of course its just my opinion.

Again. You're just another person who doesn't understand how things work. You can't expect people to call in sick, because after a while, people will get fired. I'd like to see you do that. And if you think that a prospective employer will respect you for what you did, think again. Who do you think does the hiring?
I really question someone's judgement when they can go to work in a safety related occupation where they are being used by management to destroy others careers and it isn't affecting their ability to do their job to the best of their ability. They are really a scab who hasn't had the opportunity to cross a picket line yet or like I said has poor judgement.

Midwest pilots have been in negotiations for 10-11 months. Started federal mediations in April.
Republic and Delta are going to play Midwest pilots against Republic pilots to get the lowest crew costs. JetBlue set the new industry standard for the E190 and we have to make sure Republic/Delta pay that crew cost at Midwest.
Midwest ALPA and Republic Teamsters have to stand their ground to protect the future earnings of our profession.
