I am not aware of PVD's. Also, whats the SABRE code to bid vacation when it comes open? Same as bidding for lines?

I'm amused at times when people think that just because you are a First Officer flying 121 for the first time you don't understand the concept of responsibility. There is no doubt that someone with 500 hrs doesn't have extensive aeronautical experience. But you have to look at the overall picture and see what other qualities they bring to the crew, learn how to utilize all your resources as a Captain. With that said, there is the 10% out there who are young, naive and lack experience. These are the individuals who portray the image of the young pilot with limited experience. This is the society we live in, people are not raised the way they were years ago, allot of the people in my generation (I am in my 20's) haven't been exposed to responsibility and it's their first time. Like ERJF15 I did my decade in the military and have experienced what he described.

RJ Pilot maybe you can spend more time mentoring the younger pilots instead of ridiculing them for their shortfalls. Maybe you can spend more time leading your crew, be a Captain, someone who the young FO emulates and strives to be.

There is no such thing as a leader or mentor at AE.

Welcome aboard, there are a few of us here who check this forum often, like to stir the pot and hear the rumors but if you have any questions please feel free to ask (of course after you do some research, most of your answers can be answered by reading the last few weeks in the tread). If not answered, then fire away!

There ya go, I fixed it for you. We have a few guys on the line that understand the concept. But I do agree we have many guys who hold an ATP and have thousand of hours of aeronautical experience sitting in the left seat not full filing their duties as a Captain or as a productive member of society!

Say what? So after probation then what? Open FM1 AOM1 the night prior of your pc? Great advise!

leader.

That comes with experience. Hence, coming here with 500TT or 975TT doesn't help either. Get some PIC either by CFI'ing or flying freight. Once you upgrade you will understand.

Welcome to the 21st Century, this was how things were done in the 20th Century but the world/economy has evolved and so has the aviation industry. These freight and CFI jobs are scarce today unlike the 20th Century when people could fly checks around the country. It's easier to get hired flying a 50,000 lbs RJ or T-Prop than flying a piston. Times have changed, the industry has evolved and as soon as people like you realize that the better it will be for all of us collectively. Once you step out of your self centered bubble "you will understand" Until then have fun baby sitting!!! Like ERJF15 and I stated before, there are some of us who are FOs but understand responsibility and what it's like to deal with young and inexperienced individuals. I don't need to be on the left seat to understand how things operate. On that note I do understand that most don't share my mentality and life experiences, that is what makes this job what it is. We travel and experience different people on our day to day lives.

Leadership is trait, attitude, or the quality of an individual. You can have enough hours to qualify to fly the SR-71, but can't lead your way out of a wet paper bag with scissors in your hands.

You can have a 500 hr guy/gal who gets it or a 10,000 hr CA who doesn't still.
Usually the first shot at leadership for a pilot is when they make CA. Sometimes, if not often, if an FO tries to show a little leadership, he/she are treated in a way that doesn't give positive reenforcement. It's not your fault, but it is the fault of our industry.

Once you have the quality of a leader, you will understand.
