you're absolutely right, but what should i say next time i fly with a captian that chooses to land flaps 45(not the problem) on a 10k foot runway with 70% n1 to get that "greaser" job ! it makes me laugh when i hear captains getting uptight about an FO landing with +2kts over the vapp speeds, especially on a windy day ! oh the humanity !!!

they are jumping the gun a bit eh? We want more flying contracts, but wait we are still wholey owned. Maybe they finally will stop the bull shat saying we cant bid on flying for other major airlines since we are owned by AMR. The fact we ground handle all the majors at a crud ton of airports kind of gives that argument away as a lie.

LGA based, did some time in DCA before that, so I have some experience with less than ideal runways. A gentle touchdown is often not a real good idea, seeing as you want to get the weight transferred to the wheels, so you can stop and all.
It's probably a lot rougher ride for the pax in the grass off the end, or EMAS, than that less than gentle touchdown.
