Pretty much what it means is current Mesaba Saab pilots will make more than future Mesaba saab pilots (IE when Colgan pilots get merged in with Mesaba pilots). A and B scale of sorts. The Q400 rates dont look too hot either imo.

The other rates look good though. The jet rates are actually pretty damn nice. However I dont agree a 50 seat jet should pay more than a 74 seat turboprop...

Yea I really dont know what thats all about. But its only 1 part of the contract. Everything else looks pretty good on the summery.

Mesaba Saab scale is supreme compared to Colgan's. Why do all the white people get paid more?

Agreed. looks really good from where I'm standing except for that. What kind of a statement does that make?

That you're getting a raise either way and they couldn't get management to agree to current Mesaba rates for Colgan Saab pilots and didn't think there was a chance the Mesaba guys would vote for it if they were taking a pay cut....... I'd say that's the statement there...

i def do not think split pay scales for saabs is a good idea, if its one contract, it should be one pay scale for the plane, no grandfathered crap.....that almost like an usair/aw type deal. not to mention the q400 pay doesn't even equal 50 seat pay....we can do better. those things aside it seems like a good deal otherwise.

I see what you're saying, and I think that's more the reason why it's messed up. Obviously the Mesaba guys should not have had to take a pay cut but why the heck can't everyone get the same pay? I mean what is this - US Airways and America West? At least they have a reason that they're on split pay scale! I know negotiating team had to concede some stuff but that just had to be colgan pilot pay? we're supposed to be one company one contract now, and yet the colgan guys will be second class citizens on the B scale. yeah I know I know the rest of the contract blah blah. the disparity is as much as $5 or 6 esp for FOs. which is a lot for an FO. too bad our group is too small to make a difference in the vote and it's obvious everyone involved in negotiating this B scale knew that. OK we'll just gratefully take whatever bone you throw because that's what we're supposed to do as the crappiest company coming into this, even if that includes lower pay for same work on same a/c at same company.
