Pretty much what it means is current Mesaba Saab pilots will make more than future Mesaba saab pilots (IE when Colgan pilots get merged in with Mesaba pilots). A and B scale of sorts. The Q400 rates dont look too hot either imo.
The other rates look good though. The jet rates are actually pretty damn nice. However I dont agree a 50 seat jet should pay more than a 74 seat turboprop...

Is this a FACT or CONJECTURE? I don't mind biting the bullet until my callsign is "Col... er um... I mean Mesaba", or maybe a even a year, but looking five years down the road, the B scale still exists.
Yeah, the pay increase is fantastic, but when will I cease to be a second class, bottom feeding pilot? I absolutely do not want to go into the next round of negotiations as the red headed step child.
(For all the the negotiators, thank you for all your effort. You folks took on a horrible job, and your effort has not gone unnoticed. Thank you)

Wow, totally did not expect to read that mess.
And the Q rates are a joke. Simple as that and definately not the "industry leading" it says they are elsewhere on the summary. They fall several dollars short per hour to the 50 seat jet rate. That is a gigantic slap in the face. I'm kind of embarrassed this is what was TAd

DOS raise for Colgan average
Q CA = 7.1-21.1% avg 9.8%
Q FO= 14.1-23.4% avg 20%
S CA= 10.9-17.5% avg 14.5%
S FO=1.9-23.4% avg 11.8 %
Colgan hit the lottery even with your supposed B scale. Go to the road shows listen and learn. The pot of gold needs to be doled out fairly to all three pilot groups. Colgan Pilots IMHO got their fair share on this.

Look at the other carriers flying TPs in that seat range. New rates are above those at CommutAir, Great Lakes, Gulfstream, Lynx, and Mesa.
New rates are below those at Horizon and Piedmont.
Also please keep in mind what the new Saab bases will be. Not a single Mesaba Saab base will remain open after the merger (except LGA). To remain on that plane, current Mesaba guys will either move, or commute.

I don't really agree with the 2 rates, but I understand it. Mesaba's FO rates were way above average for the Saab (34 seat TP). There was no way the company was going to give that rate to everyone, but the JNC apparently said there is no way any pilot will take a pay cut. This is the only thing that would allow for that.

As a junior committing pilot, this contract has several quality of life increases for me that are way more valuable than making an extra dollar an hour. Long call reserve will be amazing, increased JM pay, better vacation rules, leg guarantee pay, 75 percent DH pay, more pay for training events, no sims scheduled at 2 am anymore, plus pay for new first officers once you go to second year pay on up is a much better rate than before, regardless of equipment, which was very important thing for me to want to get done to pass on to future fo's behind us... Sure there are a few things I'm unhappy about, however overall life will improve for all if we sign this contract. Not to mention more flying will come to us once all this junk is over...I woulnt be surprised to see a lot of our msp dtw crj flying to suddenly come back to us from skywest and others once the threat of strike is gone...
Is happy seeing senior captain jet rates running to almost 120 dollars per hour in 5 years...that's pretty good for a regional!

I agree with the others that overall it looks real good when compared to other contracts. When compared to what Colgan has been operating under it looks like the holy grail and the Vince Lombardi Trophy wrapped into one.
Like others have mentioned I am disappointed with the dash 8 rates. Yes, it is a raise from where I am now, that is a fact. I was expecting CR2 rates and even then most were saying that the 74 seat dash 8 should be between the CR2 and the CR9 but in actuality the rate fell a good amount below the CR2 that most were expecting. The dash 8 is a very large part of the future for this pilot group and many will find their way into that plane as well as most upgrading CAs. The rates could have used a few dollars more to be "industry leading" in that specific airframe. As it stands it looks like looking at ONLY base pay at min guarantee I would see $311 more per month...not exactly enough for an offshore savings account. Next year at DOS +1 and after my anniversary date it would be a little bit better at around $7 more per hour then CJC rates now.
Dont get me wrong, I know as well as everyone else that actual pay rates are a very small fraction of a contract and what you get paid but on the other hand the pay rate is what I base my min guarantee base pay on.
On a side note since I am a little slow...I am on 4th year CA pay...am I looking at the 3-4 payscale? It would make sense since I have 3-4 years of service, I just want to make sure im not as stupid as I know I am.
