I just don't like it when a union tells you you're eating steak when it is just a really nice hamburger. Don't get me wrong, we were eating dogfood out of a dumpster. Hopefully I'm wrong and it will be industry leading. I'm not tryin' to take away from the negotiating comittee's hard work, we've just been so underpaid for so long I guess I'm cynical.
From a recent e-mail from the XJ MEC to our pilot group:
The TA contains many improvements for Mesaba pilots. A new Parent Company Letter, and revised scope provisions will eliminate any “whipsaw” effect between Pinnacle Corp pilot groups, and ensure that any newly created or acquired flying is conducted by our pilots on the single, integrated seniority list and under our JCBA. The TA eliminates the blended rate for First Officers, and establishes industry-leading wages, with significant increases throughout the five year duration. A “leg-by-leg” cancellation pay provision improves upon the current trip guarantee system. Work rule enhancements include improved scheduling provisions. Benefits have never been better at Mesaba with richer provisions in vacation, improved health insurance benefits, and the TA retains the Mesaba 401(k) matching and vesting.

At my pay rate it would need to be bumped up by $8.50 just to be equal to Mesaba's current rate (same position, longetivity, aircraft). So if I see an $8 raise like you mentioned, that would mean the new rate would be the same rate as Mesaba's current rate. So that would mean Mesaba wouldn't be getting any hourly pay raise at all. And that's if the pay raise is $8. Anything lower would actually mean a pay cut for Mesaba. Is that so?

Please wait for the sections to actually be released. The speculation is doing nothing positive.

If we stopped speculating then there would be no use for these boards. How is it that I am speculating but you are speaking the holy gospel on the issue? You are speculating just as much, if not more than I am.

Our current rates are blended, they are soon to become unblended and looks like our Saabs are being transferred to the united side of things. So yes Mesaba guys will receive a pay increase because we will be all jet soon.

Not excited.

Heard the opposite- too expensive to bring Colgan MX program up to the level that the XJ Saabs have to be maintained at.

Why would they consider fencing only the dash 8 upgrades? Just curious why that would be the only thing fenced and why I could bid a CR2 vacancy but a 9E or XJ pilot could not bid a DH4 vacancy.

No one asked my opinion but I would think a one year fence would be nice. It would just give everyone a chance to digest the new list and contract. There are going to be a lot of changes in the coming year and throw in wholesale movement between the operating certificates and it will get interesting.

If this contract is not industry leading I'm voting No!

And for those that don't get it, that's called grade A sarcasm.

You have to look at the entire value of a contract. Company A might have better this, and company B has better that, you have to understand the value as a whole.

Please read it and by all means go to the roadshows for explanations and ask questions.
