since a fence is being negotiated separate from the contract, they aren't really related. And it still seems that you guys are only looking at the Q rate as colgans problem. When you have your opportunity to upgrade and your looking at no possibility of a -900 position, what you will be left with is that Q. And you will be kicking yourself for not getting a better deal.

What you should look at is how much were we able to raise the rates from what Colgan has been flying them at. How much is that percentage increase?
We will have the Q rate fight next time the contract is negotiated, trust me.

So what's this phrase "Industry Leading" all about?
3rd year FO pay at Horizon on Q400 is $40 an hour.
I doubt we'll get that.
perhaps they should have phrased it "near industry leading"

Horizon doesn't have the same soft money language that this TA should... even if it isn't industry leading I think it will still be an improvement for all three companies... which is point of negotiations, no?

There better not be any fences on the Q... I believe if you are under the Pinnacle Corp umbrella and a vacancy is posted for upgrade, it don't matter what airplane it is or what airline it is, if your seniority number allows it, there should be nothing holding you back....NO FENCES whatsoever!!!!!

Fences are only FIRST brought up in Sli talks, which haven't started yet (but will shortly) and after a TA is ratified. Talk at this point of fences is only "personal desires". XJ would love to fence the -900, CJC the Q, and 9E all -200 upgrades.... That's common sense. We have our respective merger committees to work through those factors.

the new United airlines is getting away from that and trying to reinvent the wheel , as well as the number of pax carried and moving more toward a type of % profitability of aircraft or something- i dont know just heard in passing--- its interesting and have no idea if it will work

So if you really can't be extended on that day, you have protection for refusing it.
Extensions need to be a possibility. There are times when reasonable planning doesn't even cover a situation, in which case, I feel like scheduling should be able to try to find a pilot willing to do the open flying. The issue has been that the planning hasn't been reasonable, and the pilots haven't been willing.
"You've been extended..."
"What about hot reserves?"
"We didn't have any today..."
"I can't, I have my wedding to go to, can you find somebody else?"
"Missed trip!"
vs.
"We have a turn that needs to be covered while a home reserve gets to the airport, we used all of our hot reserves because of crews stuck in the biggest blizzard in years. Can you do it for some additional cash?"
"No, I'm getting married today."
"Ok, we'll call the next guy and offer him some extra pay."

Pilots are like the seagulls on "Finding Nemo"....Mine, mine, mine

oh, that includes me, too!

I just don't like it when a union tells you you're eating steak when it is just a really nice hamburger. Don't get me wrong, we were eating dogfood out of a dumpster. Hopefully I'm wrong and it will be industry leading. I'm not tryin' to take away from the negotiating comittee's hard work, we've just been so underpaid for so long I guess I'm cynical.
