fences are only first brought up in sli talks, which haven't started yet (but will shortly) and after a ta is ratified. Talk at this point of fences is only "personal desires". Xj would love to fence the -900, cjc the q, and 9e all -200 upgrades.... That's common sense. We have our respective merger committees to work through those factors.

Horizon has 35 day schedules. They only get paid for about 11 months out of the year. Their high pay rates are a fallicie.

Nothing wrong with a short fence. 1 to 2 years anyway. I sure the heck don't want anything shorter than 1 year though. It would be absolute chaos across bases and types. Guys that wanted MEM for a base would end up in PQI! Nothing would settle down for 5 years. Keep in mind we still get a contract even if we do have a fence of somesort. Farmers build fences to keep the peace with their neighbors, not because they are at war.

A lot of the saab guys being displaced should be able to bid into that Q400 position if they want, or a displaced pilot from pinnacle as well. A 9L pilot with lower seniority should not get it ahead of a displaced senior pilot.

The fences in consideration are only for the Q400 captain position everything else will be open. Also with Dual Qual on the CRJ's there couldn't be fences anyway.

I can tell all of you that fences are a horrible short-sighted idea. One of the major benefits all the pilots are going to get here is the ability to bid many more base/aircraft combination. You're each going from, I don't know, 3-5 per airline... to maybe a dozen total. Thats a lot of options and its like winning the QOL lottery. Don't be shortsighted and artificially limit yourselves.
Those who think you're bringing something "premium" to the table... get over yourselves. We're not talking about 747s here. Everyone involved flies regional aircraft on regional routes for regional payrates. Some have it slightly better than others, but nothing is worth fencing. Its all the same company anyways, any benefit you have may have been at the expense of another fellow pilot. A fence would just continue to prevent that fellow pilot from sharing in the gains that should be for all.
Nobody is going to get pushed out of their seat due to this, but options for bidding vacant seats in other aircraft or bases should be open to all.
(*Note: I don't have a dog in this fight, just providing some opinion/observation.... I have nothing to gain or lose from some Q400s upgrades being fenced)
Could someone post the list of bases and aircraft at those bases for each airline?
Additionally, does anyone know if dual qual was agreed to in the TA? For the sake of the industry and your airline, I hope not.
