Uhhhh, no. Their pairing build software doesn't do that as ANYTHING near a norm.

Earlier in the summer they were doing the sub 20 hour 4 day trips, with lots of sit time and lots of time in the hotel. They're just like most regionals. What's efficient for the company ISN'T efficient for the airline.

They wanted nothing to do with those little airplanes as I understand it.

I'm not mad at GoJet pilots for gaining 12 new planes. I'm mad at ASA and Skywest Inc for losing them.

I guess Delta didn't learn the lesson when they hired Mesa (Freedom). Nice move, Delta, from one bottom feeder to another...

Ah that blows.

If it makes you feel better, I used to do 8 hour four days at XJT back in 2002 or so. Best part- completely uncommutable. Even better was the fact they took trip trading away because some figure out how to game they system. And even after all of that you had short overnights. Lots of long long sits at hubs and outstations. I remember flying to MKE in the morning and sleeping in the airplane for I don't remember exactly but I want to say 4 hours. Whatever was just shy of a hotel requirement. Then go back to CLE for another long sit.

That really wears you out.

Funny thing FTB, I remember our MEC chair once telling us at Comair that Lee Moak was going to make sure all outsourced Delta flying was done by ALPA carriers. I guess if you get under cut by an ALPA carrier it takes the sting away when you use your preferential interview card.

So since DALPA has a seat on the board I'm surprised this went through. However, Delta once told Comair we were going to take over the crj900's that Freedom was flying. Then it was Mesaba. Then every other carrier within DCI got a touch. They finally ended up at ASA for a 2 or 3 to one trade.

My point being this might not be as done of a deal yet.

If it makes you feel better, rest easy knowing that things at XJT haven't changed much. You can STILL do 6 am shows, 10 pm releases, 10 hours pay (but now 15 thanks to C04), have 5-6 hours of sit time a day with almost 5 at an oustation, overnights that are no longer than 10 hours, etc etc etc. Especially for ORD/CLE crews.

That is a myth created by the codeshare pilots to justify their existence. The mainline pilots would happily fly the RJ's. The only problem was we wanted to keep retirement and benefits. The company didn't and they had a bunch of willing volunteers to limbo under the fence to get the shiny jets flown for pennies compared the mainline.

The guys were all proud to be Jet pilots but they didn't realize there was someone willing to do it for less than them and then another one willing to do it for even greater discount. The cycles is sickening. Put those jets at the mainline where they belong.
