Ask a 10 year XJ CA who now has 5 years of seniority....
I know 9e CA's who will be on reserve for the next 4 years (after being on reserve for 2-3) getting lapfrogged by Colgan guys....
I know CA's that will now have to commute because they aren't senior enough to live in domicile anymore.

I bet any one of those guys would argue that it's worse than a 3 yr FO having to sit right seat for another 2-2 1/2 years...
enough?
These Captains all have one thing going for them that NONE of the F/O's do. They are in a position to leave. By that I mean they are earning their precious TPIC to move on. The F/O's are stuck in the mud with the wheels spinning. I dont think many of the F/O's on here are going to shed a tear for the current CA's.
The guys I feel the worst for in this whole mess are the Captains that are being displaced to F/O. Having been there before, I can feel their pain. One of my friends who was downgraded with me in 09 is being punched in the nuts for a second time. Twice now he's had his seat unfairly taken from him, but life's not fair. This career is not fair. Luck is a larger factor than skill in how our careers progress. Some guys get the breaks, some guys dont.
There is absolutely nothing I can change about this award. The only thing I can change is my attitude toward it. I can let it get to me, or let it go. I'm going to strive to let it go. Harboring resentments for something that is out of my hands will lead nowhere. I hope some of the guys on here that are spouting off about frosty cockpits will just let it go. Life is easier when you are not carrying around a lot of worthless anger.

How about a 5 year CA, (having already spent 4 years as FO) getting forcibly downgraded to make room for Q400 captains with 1-2 years less longevity. That didn't make your list.. it should.

Please re read blochs award especially the fine print. Doesn't matter what seat u were in. Each airline was awarded CA slots for the planes they had, not the people and their seats. Must be tough with a pursue aviation degree....
This is the one that sucks terrible. It goes beyond logic that the company would pull these guys off the line just to send them back to school, with not even finishing. People are asleep at the switch if you ask me.
A minor complaint as long as the positions below him are being backfilled by junior XJ guys-- protected by appropriately sized fences. This guy also has 108 exclusive positions in front of him flowing to DAL soon, so he should see good mobility in the coming year.
Another terrible result of poor integration methods. Drawing the lines arbitrarily put these guys in the "FO" category, even though they weren't. The silver lining is they're holding the left seat and will have the opportunity to bounce at the first moment the market breaks.
An inconvenience only. They had the opportunity to bid back to FO if they so chose to preserve quality of life. They chose to commute. The fact of the matter is that XJ was experiencing a significant reduction of fleet size and our SLI committee overlooked it. Incompetence? Indifference? Which is worse?

Sorry I didn't name every reason in the planet there is not enough server space. As to your "commuting is an inconvenience only" try telling that to a father with a 4 month old who will now see his kid 8 days a month if he's lucky and have to pay for a crashpad. You're not married are you? I'm guessing by your comments you are 25 and single. Wifes don't look at that as a "minor inconvenience." It is called "future alimony." You just don't get that you were not the only one besides the downgrades that got served a sh*t sandwich do you?

Lol u dont know. Even ur own guys are arguing with u..... Sorry about ur integration man. But each airline got captain slots, didn't matter if someone at that airline was a CA or not. Hence FO's that are better than 50% seniority. Try again boiler maker boy. Once again I'm out to fly my prop cuz I'm not good enough to fly a jet like u.

saabs is right Purdue...it had nothing to do with how many actual CA's were there at the time.
