$18 an hour for first year pay sucks but $19 for second and $21 for third year is laughable. Although, leaving my jacket at home and flying a Saab around the Bahamas doesn't sound too bad either.

$19/20 per hour for a few years upgrade and make $40 then move on, or get frozen in the right seat at a regional for ten years. Yeah, QOL will suck in the beginning, but you make it work. You never know, it COULD be a smart move in the longrun, or it could not... I think its a good opportunity for guys fresh in the industry like myself with nothing to lose.

$19/HR first year unless you have less than 500TT you will upgrade in a year. So don't even worry about having to be on second year pay etc. etc. Yes the pay sucks, but guess what anything less than $50k in the country is laughable so what difference does it make? If you want to come over do it now is a good time.

Has anyone looked into some of the places GIA flies to? Non-towered airports in the mountains with the only IP being an NDB approach. Sounds exciting!

mountains? Yes, Billings is in Montana, but all of the destinations are so rural you might as well be in North Dakota. And I'm pretty sure the Penn bases are far enough west that they are out of those mountains, maybe some small ranges here and there... Even still, should be some fun yet dicey flying.

The streets are littered with the "quick upgrade plans" of regional pilots.

Try taking a straw poll of regional FOs who were hired at the time of quick upgrades, only to continue to warm the right seat years later.

I'd vote in that poll. Except I'm not warming the right seat. I'm getting furloughed out of that right seat. Four years ago when I was hired, it was less than a year to upgrade.
