Huh I love how they say there's no more pay to play agreement that was $300 per month for five years and then go on to say however, there's a two year contract. Prorated at $1000 per month. You gotta be kidding me! Friend of mine has been an FO at a regional for two years and if he took a Captain position at GIA, he would take a pay cut......imagine that, he would take a pay cut if he took a captain position at GIA. Pathetic I tell you.....PATHETIC......serious race to the bottom

Huh I love how they say.... I love how they say that a training contract is a big deal when they are all to common in aviation right NOW. Maybe not at places like the majors because everyone knows that once you get a job there you typically wont leave by choice, however at other regionals as well as corporate/135/overseas jobs often have training contracts. For us new to the industry it is not a huge deal since we wont leave until we get plenty of time anyway. Very simple. Stay for 2 years and pay nothing.
Huh I love how they say that GIA is "a race to the bottom" but at NO POINT is there even the slightest hint of constructive criticism such as an alternative. "Well dont do this! I don't know how you would do it any other way just dont do this!" I really do get frustrated by the negativity on this forum. Provide some constructive alternative suggestions not just complain. How did you in all your glorious airline pilot status make it to the 6 figure income / 18 days off a month / 36 hour layovers etc that you are at now? Never had a bad paying job? never worked hard for your money? Was handed from day one a spot at a major making 100k starting salary? Really. Thanks for all the helpful words of wisdom about all the things we are doing wrong when most people already at the top of their career would have done the exact same thing at the beginning if it was what they thought was best at the time. Sitting on a forum complaining about how something supposedly affects you in your career and not in any way actually making an attempt to help or do anything about it doesn't accomplish anything accept make you look like all the other whiners that posted in this thread in the past. I hope I never end up like you or those like you. I would be embarrassed at who I had become.

Pay is only 1 part of a contract...you also have to take in effect the work rules. From what I've heard the work rules are pretty good. There's a lot of "soft" time pay in their contract (duty rig, minimum report pay etc.)...not to mention a 1.75 a minute pay over ride that comes in for every minute shaved off of the flight (not block) time regardless of if you're flight is running early, late or on time. This pay is for captains and FO's each, and can add up quickly. I've heard of guys getting up to $500 a month extra for this pay.

And not to mention theres no required ready-reserve. Since nearly everyone lives at base, all you have to do is be able to answer the call within 15 minutes, and show up in 1.5 hours ready to fly. Go paint your house, take to dog for a walk, play Call Of Duty MW3, what ever...just wait for the call, throw on the tie, and out you go. 150% overtime pay, 175% per minute early, and almost guaranteed overtime. Yeah, base pay sucks. Pick up the phone on your day off, do some extra flying, and make it work. How do you think the Manager at McDonalds got to his "prestigious" position? For a little while, he flipped some burgers (ok horrible example). Do your time, learn what you can, earn what you can, and make the best of it. Because my definition of "PATHETIC" is the trolls (50% of this forum) that sit on these forums belittling every person who would take this sort of job because it is unethical by their standards. Dont have anything constrictive to say? Go complain to your union rep, not people who are here for actual intellectual information.
On a side note--- Interviewed on Wednesday, was told to wait at least a week, maybe two, for an answer. Anyone in the same boat?

Interviewed Tuesday, still waiting as well. Hopefully hear something soon to leave enough time to plan. They never set in stone a class date for January according to Lilly so sometime mid January.
