I am no longer shocked by people's selfish behavior. Saddened, yes, shocked? Nope. Just read the opinions of the Gojetters; "Gojet is good for ME, I don't care beyond that!"
If someone thinks they can get ahead fast, it doesn't matter who gets hurt, as long as it isn't them right at that moment. The examples of this selfishness are limitless in and out of aviation. It's a brave new world my friends

Im tired of people giving peoiple crap about gojet and gulfstream, oh because trans state pilots left to gojet to fly better pay and not incease in pay and no union? Do I have that right? and gulfstream pilots wanting to pay for training. Calling these people who apply to gulfstream and gojet scumbag pilots. Why?? I dont know, we work for a regional!! We are the ones flying smaller planes for cheaper then mainline, taking their jobs, and we have jobs while mainline pilots are losing their houses on furlough. Why doesnt anyone ever talk about pilots wanting to go to Continental, arent there scabs over there. I mean why doesnt anyone give people crap for working next to a scab. Oh wait casue its a mainline and you want to go there. So we are all guilty of being a scumbag in a sense. For guys applying to Gojet and the guys getting upset about it, why? You expect new guys right now to go back in a long history lesson to see if every airline has some fault years ago?

That's what I was going to post. Thank you.

I fly with scabs, but I'm not a scab. Big difference. I was hired 20 years later (after the strike). I don't work for a scumbag airline (CAL), although that can be debated. Anyone who works for a scumbag airline (Gulfstream) is a scumbag pilot. Gulfstream was started by a scumbag and is run as a scumbag operation. They take advantage of pilots today; therefore the word "scumbag".

How in the world does 1900 training cost $25,000? You can get any Boeing type rating for under $10,000.

Pilots have a choice: don't cross picket lines and don't pay to do your job. It may take longer, but you can do it.

Simply put: Because they are too ignorant, too lazy, and/or lack a solid set of ethics. They just do what's best for them, everyone else be damned. If you work for either airline, there's a good chance you fall under one (or all) of the three categories I just listed.

I view it differently though. Kind of like they said in the Godfather, PFT is a harmless vice like gambling and prostitution. Being a scab is a dirty business like drug dealing. A lot of airlines used to PFT back in the day and this is Gulfstream it's not American Airlines. Really they don't affect anyone maybe besides other 1900 operators and they probably pay as little as gulf stream... It's more of a question of are you willing to grab your ankles to get to a major quicker by going to places like gulf stream or have better QOL and get there 10 years later at a regional that's not PFT?

Good point, you can get a type in a 1900 for ~8,000. That 5 year contract could be pretty bad if you were furloughed from GIA, are you required to return if recalled or payback the training fee. It causes a conflict of interest of them having a financial incentive to furlough.

Or fire. I'm guessing you don't have to pay for it unless you leave on your own. If not then good luck.
