what is the CAPT pay after deductions, for someone with 1600/hr who can go pass an ATP written, this might not be a bad gamble, beats FO pay for the next 5 years. It might also be a good career short cut.

$32/hr wage as 1st year CA. Monthly guarantee is 75 hours. 75 x $32 = $2400/mo gross. Maybe you have 200 hours of per diem for the month paid at $1.45. 200 x 1.45 = $290. $2400 + $290 = $2690 gross for the month. Minus $300 for training payment. $2390.

AWESOME PAY! And that is before Gov't takes 20%. so now you have ~$1912

Capt pay is almost as good as FO pay at AE,ASA,XJT,SKW,PCL,Horizon etc.

What does that tell you?

Ok. What do you do with $25,000 training with no type? I'll take the Boeing type, there is a couple I still don't have. I have 7 airline type ratings and never paid for them!

I'd rather be a FO at ASA/XJT, SKW, or PCL than a CA at GIA. I'd rather be a F/T CFI than a FO at GIA.

He was making the point that a more useful type rating on a more complex aircraft doesn't cost as much as they say the 1900 type rating is worth.

You can say that again. Based on their rates, as a CFI, I was taking home more than a top of the scale FO at GIA.

I really don't get how those guys justify it to themselves. Why accept $X to be in the left seat at GIA, when you can have the same pay (if not more) in the right seat at a reputable airline with FAR less responsibility.

He was just making the point that the 1900 training is overpriced.

Edit: Someone already beat me to it

Yea I understand what he and you are saying. And hopefully from the other persons comment of Gulfstream not recieving any takers does change the PFT to no longer exist.

I am not defending Gulfstream, but I am stating I do not like peoples attitude that attack the individuals that apply there in such manner. People can voice their opinion in a more courteous fashion.

How close to 1500/hr and ATP written will they actually go?? Getting the PIC turbine for about the same as FO pay at Eagle....hmmm, you might be able to go to a real airline at the time you would be upgrading at Eagle.
