The correct response is to grab the crash axe and say "Thank you sir, I'll take the fat one"

I was an FFDO for 5 years. I gave it up when I changed jobs.

I had an FO tell me one time that I would not need the gun because if anything started he was going to go back into the cabin and "kick some butt."

No, he wasn't.

I've heard guys say "I'm an FFDO so if sh*t hits the fan lean the other direction "

That one makes me laugh.

That is the spirit of good CRM, if you are handed lemons make lemonade, if you are handed a tool, use it to your advantage.
You might not like either one, but don't let the little stuff get in your way.

I believe the SOP allows for shooting this type of FO.

Thank goodness for GoJet pilots keeping our streets safe and Uncle Hulie's pocketbook fat, I mean, what would we do without them? The local police department should watch out, they might get undercut or circumvented.
Sorry but maybe I'm missing something here, how do we know he works for ScabJet?

A little black humor would have gone over with me, but this guy was dead serious. It was an IOE flight too, so I felt compelled to keep quiet. I think what I was trying to relate here is that the FFDO program, although conceived with good intentions, attracted many tools that let their little pistols go to their head. Let's face it, there is a lot of big egos in the 121 world. Add a pistol and you have, well..... Clayton
