Delta to Pinnacle: Concessions or shutdown
#181
Actually, there was quite a different relationship between 9E/XJ/CZ with NWA, than DAL had with its regionals. NWA pilots were given jobs at the regionals if they wanted them. The check airman that trained me on the CRJ was a NWA furlough. We had flow backs at XJ, and Compass could have been flushed completely had NWA furloughed. I can tell you that Delta has been a very different animal to deal with since the merger between DAL/NWA. We had a much stronger relationship with mainline pilots than we do now.
Same thing happened with ASA and DL.
Both airlines gave preferential slots for furloughs.
Now the regionals are shrinking and mainline is (about to be) growing. The two situations are completely different.

Seeing as 9E runs the -900 and -200 as separate categories, you would be incorrect. Check out (if you've still got it) Section 24 under Equipment Freezes. FOs can't bid another category for 24 months following an award to a new aircraft. You'd be locked int the -900 for 24 months, and you wouldn't be able to upgrade for 12....unless there was street CA hiring about to happen. Change of domicile? Unrestricted. There's a difference between NO QUOTAS for FOs and no EQUIPMENT FREEZE for FOs.
Guys were bouncing from equipment to equipment after that first vacancy because equipment freezes don't count in a displacement. In a vacancy, however, they're still there.

Actually its about the same. Pinnacle grew like a weed while mainline furloughed.

The mainline isn't growing enough to absorb all who will lose their jobs. Some of the young pups (who have enough years left) will reap the rewards of your efforts (and I applaud your work). But the sad fact is there will be fewer jobs overall (mainline and regionals together), and some folks will be left standing when the music stops.
We grey haired regional pilots have a tough row to hoe. Please tip your hat to us, and wish us well... because G@d knows we need it.

No disrespect or anger, but...

I think a lot of guys (including union reps) were confused on the quotas and the contract language. The quotas allowed for unlimited FO movement, while the CAs had to have a minimum number of pre-merger slots before the unlimited hopping could begin. I think a lot of guys just went off of that and forgot about the equipment freeze section in the contract.

Don't remember any flow backs going to XJ. Maybe some getting hired at the bottom of the list. It happen at 9e. We all were offered jobs at compass prior to recall. Only a hand full went though. At the beginning compass could have been all NWA furloughed pilots. NWA was just recalling at that time.

Actually, I showed you were 100% wrong.

This is why I've recommended to all my friends that are still at Pinnacle to run away.. run far far away, no matter where they are at in the airline.
