How Desperate is AE?

Well apparently they are not too desperate. My friend interviewed this week. He has a clean record, an internal recommendation, an ATP license and is a very talented pilot. Think he said they started out with 7 and by lunch, there were only 2 left. He didn't make it and of course was given no reason.
Now is up to the applicant to keep the same impression during the interview. I have a friend who went last week and did not was prepared for the HR portion. Guess what??? He have to wait to reapply.
Eagle is a great place to work, but the interview and training is harder than most regionals and majors.

Remind me never to put my family on any flight flown by a company that practices those "standards".
A person who can't make it through Eagle's interview would never make it through training anyway.
And being close friends with a number of people currently and formerly in the hiring department I have heard stories that would make your toes curl. Including one of a former military pilot who only flew jets with centerline thrust and crashed the Baron sim when they failed the engine on him because he didn't understand asymmetrical thrust.
I'm sure all his "friends" were wondering why Eagle would pass on "such a qualified and skilled pilot".

When I was hired years ago. 3 of 10 made it. 4 were immediately removed at the beginning for not passing the written test. It was odd, because they were the most experienced of the bunch, mostly with jet time. The test was common knowledge it was going to be given. They even said so in the email. It was Direct from the ATP bank, just like the gouges said, absolutely no reason not to pass it other than zero preparation.
Another 1 bombed the tech/hr we assume, we never saw him again after that section. Then we had the Saab sim on full motion. None of us had ever experienced or flown anything like that so we were nervous.. But they were great about it. Really a good experience, they made us feel comfortable.. But one guy crashed it somehow, And another guy got completely lost, apparently they even tried to get him oriented again, but he was hopeless. So really they had no choice but to not take them either. The criteria the sim instructor gave us was- don't crash, and don't get lost. We are looking for basic skills, and ability to improve.. not perfection.
I really felt the job was ours to lose. They seemed like they wanted to hire everyone but if you bomb it and showed up totally unprepared, it's not their fault. They may have changed things now, I don't know.. But this was my experience, and everyone I know here has said the same thing. If you study the gouges, show up prepared, with your paperwork in order. You'll more than likely be successful.

Yes, Eagle does have the highest standards of training in the Regional industry. They also provide the highest quality training and have some of the best instructors in my opinion. People who have been 121 pilots for 20+ years training you as opposed to "Chad the Captain" like at other Regionals.

Is this what they tell everyone at INDOC and it makes you feel good about yourself so you repeat it? My Eagle interview was the easiest of the 4 pilot interviews I have had.

I have been hearing a lot about people that show up fully qualified, think they do well during the interview and the sim, and then are shown the door with no explanation as to why. I have a question that perhaps someone can answer for me. Is there any correlation to the non-hires and the $5,000 two year lock signing bonus?
If early in the interview process you are asked about the bonus and if you are interested in taking it, is it possible that if you said "NO" that could be the reason some of these people are not making the cut. Especially for the people that are 3K+ hours you are advertising to them that you will jump ship at a moments notice.
I have never interviewed at Eagle so I have no idea when the $5,000 bonus is discussed in the process. There may be no correlation at all, but I am just asking.

When I interviewed at Eagle I was expecting to be gone within the first hour due to all of this talk. Ended up being one of the most relaxed interviews I had. I'm not sure where all the negative stories come from.

Soooooo.....what you are saying is that instead of pilots being qualified and confident enough to pass an interview Eagle should just dumb it down for them because they are "so desperate".
