Example, you're qualified, but in your 40's or 50's and the majors pass you over for a 20- or 30-something?

I've also heard stories that females get preferential hiring over equally experienced male counterparts at the majors.

Truth to any of this?
Discrimination? No. Nepotism? Hell yes!! It's not what know, but who you know. I just found this out to be true.

So...let's summarize:

1. Invest time, (a ton of) money, and effort into flight training and hope you don't have any failed check rides.

2. Work as a CFI or build time some how (paid for or not) to get 1,500 hours.

3. Come August, pay up to $15,000 for ATP certificate.

4. Apply to regional to make crap money as FO with the possibility of doing so for 10 years before upgrade to captain.

5. If lucky to upgrade to captain at regional, applying to majors is nothing more than who you know (unless you're female or a minority).

Awesome.

This should be a mandatory glossy poster at every flight school and academy.

Panties in wad? Hardly. But ya think your style lacked just a slight degree of tact? "ewwww ewwww, I'm calling you out/liar liar pants of fire prove it!!!!!".

Research ANY post of mine. I'm not one of those that's here shotgunning bovine scatology and hoping it sticks.

You're right, you DON'T have to believe me, or what anybody else on here says that is simply trying to relay information from a more credible source.

Like I said, PLEASE do. Share whatever you get. In the hopes of giving information to everybody that's a current rat in a maze looking for cheese, trying to get on at a legacy. You have a good day......

Made sense in a way, then age 65 and 2008 happened, and for those not able to make a move prior to that they sorta got screwed.
"cool story, bro......"

Funny, we ALL know people hired in that time frame with higher TT.

At what airline have you found nepotism to be useful to you?

What discrimination? I just got my ATP and have been picked up by mainline, they gave me my choice of base and told me i could pick what airplane i wanted to fly. They also said they want to put me on the next cover of their company magazine so i am not sure what this discrimination is all about. See my interview photo below.

Why do I want to research what you've said in the past? So, you've been truthful before therefore eveything you say is fact? No thanks. Also, I said 4 words. Not sure how you get a childish rhyme from that. Usually when people say things, they provide context. So, your friends have had above 9000TT. Okay, as far as anyone could tell, that was your basis for saying the average for new hires was 9000. How was anyone supposed to know that you talked to the CP or anyone at United? Was that info from recruiters? Did you read it in an article? Maybe you heard it in the jumpseat? Saying broad sweeping generalizations like that without context sounds fishy.

Cool brotha's DON'T believe the simple information I was simply trying to pass on. It's a free country.

"I'm am SO done talking to you like a man"

-Rust Cohle-

But IF I'm lucky enough to get hired, and I for some reason post in the "who's been hired" thread with my numbers for the sake of what the thread is about, and if for some reason you have a question, I'll GLADLY give you ANY info I have via PM. AGAIN, if it comes to it.

Enjoy where you're currently at if you've made it, or good luck in your pursuit of a better job, it's really no skin of my huevos........
