Anything New At AWAC?
#123
None of you... Know anything... About CPA negotiations, the long term or short term plans of AAG/AWAC, the specific relevant finances of either company, how much either company is willing or able to give, what either company cares about or doesn't care about, what has taken place during negotiations, other players in the mix, etc etc. The sooner people on these boards start realizing how much they don't know the better off everyone will be.

I'm not saying anyone claims to know those things, I'm simply saying since no one does, making a comment about what they think either party wants/will do is pointless. Saying airways doesn't care if you fly for someone else or you guys are too expensive 1. Implies you have information or knowledge that you actually don't and 2. Just creates more uncertainty and stress.

It seems awfully strange to have just had such a large class Jan 5th (large enough that they are running AM/PM classes) and have started another class this past Monday on 19th (albeit smaller).
Attrition isn't even close to justify the hiring they have been doing. One could say they are hiring anyone, at anytime, because they want to be ahead of the game. No argument with that, but its still odd given how they never typically have run AWAC with a mass of extra bodies hanging around.
The seniority list is extremely odd and really frustrating me. The official list (as of Jan 9 this year) shows 793. FLICA shows me at 567 out of 831. The freaking PIFS showing you new hires are in the 1,000s. I really cant imagine there are 200+ management pilots here.
I have been here 1.5 years. I was 733/733 as a newhire when I bid for my first base. There is no way they have only hired 60 some people in that time. I get the horrendous (and embarrassing) washout rate here, but that still doesn't add up in the slightest. What do I know though.

I'm sure alot of people are just nervous, its like watching my dad in 2002-2003, he is a A&P for UAL, I remember him looking at other career options, all stressed out for over a year, luckily it worked out but I think thats just what alot of people are thinking, especially the guys/gals that dont have the PIC to go to a major, I wouldnt want to just have to start over again at XYZ regional if flying is all they want to do. Chatting soothes the stress.

I understand, but I think sometimes it might create more stress. I don't have a dog in this fight, and hope nothing for the best for you guys, I just think you will drive yourself nuts if you keep trying to deduce whats going on from what little information you have. I know uncertainty is stressful but since there is nothing you can do to affect the outcome, I think the best thing one can do is just try to be stoic about everything and simply wait and see what happens. Easier said then done, I know. But this industry is saturated with uncertainty in every direction.
