It is very unlikely AWAC stops flying at the end of this year and the extension to 2017 is also likely to continue....AWAC doesn't want to die and AA doesn't have another carrier it can just slot-in to cover 71 a/c worth of flying.

That being said, management has been dancing about on the contract extension announcement ever since they had to recant on the Delta deal.

The last time I was in a reliable gossip loop...the only thing I heard was that AA got really interested in adding years to the contract once Delta and AWAC were close to signing a deal.

In the recent crews news Scott Kirby stated AWAC's contract ends in 2015 but they can extend for one year.

He did say they are talking to them and may extend it for longer.

They said if AWAC went away they would just expand another regionals lift.

Does the new AA paint mean a contract extention? AWACS answer- we cannot confirm that this means an extention.

Hiring is steady, but it would seem like it's for attrition mostly on the f/o side. As a ****ed off employee I wouldn't believe anything management says.
Hahaha! So true. The Q&A's are worthless.

Regardless of whether this place shuts down or not this is a good place to be unless you could care less about your QOL, Pay, Insurance and other benefits.

There is definite movement for sure and every month im hearing of more CAs leaving as well as FOs. There hasn't been a month yet on the Vacancy Bid Awards I havent gone up (not counting the total number on the list growing).

Timing is everything and who knows what it would mean for someone hired today, but as a 1.5 yr guy I have moved up a hell of a lot more than I ever would have imagined.

That's funny because that guy is as informed about AWAC as any bum on the street! He sells dreams to dreamers using stardust and will charge handsomely for it!

Piedmont is set to get there first 145 in Jan. 2016 with all 40 planes being delivered by the end of that year. While I believe AWAC will still be around in the AAG system it could be at a much reduced role. Rumor is the 145's will be heading to PHL. I could see AWAC going to 40 planes along with PDT having 40 planes.

But who the hell knows at this point.

Default Anything New At AWAC?

I just don't see any airline parting ways with 71 fully staffed planes in this climate. Every carrier wants as much feed as they can get their hands on.

Isn't Envoy down 1000 pilots from their peak pre-merger?

On one city pair I'm familiar with, there were 14 flights a day between US and AA, all 50 seaters pre-merger. There's now 7, and they are all 70 seaters.

Envoy assumed they couldn't be replaced too.
