I'm a 'new hire', I certainly don't get to vote on anything for a long time... =)

Also, FWIW... Everyone I have met since joining the company have been great. Although there is nothing in stone, I would put my money on the company being around 5 years from now before I would put my money on some others...
I'd say there's a solid chance you'd be off probation by the time a TA would come out for the pilot group to vote on. If you're a new-hire now.

Good luck with training.

Thanks! Almost done...

Even so, in an environment where anything can change five minutes from now, I'll take my chances with a company owned by investors who are out to make money for themselves over a company owned by a mainline carrier. I think it has been proven the last few years that a mainline carrier will try to squeeze everything they can out of their WO regionals because they can always close down the wholely owned and farm out the flying if negotiations don't go they way they want it.

AWAC seems to have a solid record concerning financial decisions... why would you think they would stop now?

No one knows the future, let's hope it is bright for all of us...

AWAC's aircraft are not owned or controlled by American Airlines. American cannot transfer these aircraft to another carrier.

That's because the Feds now require a registration renewal every three years. It's supposedly a means to cull the registry and more importantly, be a source of revenue. It's been going on for about four years now - everything out there with a valid N-number has already been through one cycle.

Newest Vacancy has 24 CA slots! By far the biggest I've seen in my 2 years

It is a big number but not sure how much movement it will create. They are only looking (across the entire system) for 4 new reserves and the other 20 will graduate to line holding status.

It suggests that they are overstaffed on reserves which is in line with what the DCA Chief Pilot said yesterday in ground school about CA staffing in general...

Obviously I wish there would be more movement...

It's still pretty good movement, most I've seen in my tenure here, and it'll open up way more than only four reserve positions.

I just looked at this vacancy myself. It will result in 24 new captains, not just 4, if that's how you were interperting it. The 4 new reserves are in addition to the 20 captains to replace the ones getting off reserve. The only way it would result in less than 24 upgrades, is if there was backfill associated with the vacancy.

I am learning that...three years at this company and I still don't get how backfill works...
