Anything New At AWAC?
#431
I honestly believe Parker used Piedmont/PSA/ENVOY as a neg. tool against AWAC. He went in there with a low ball long term contract and said, "Piedmont will be doubling there fleet with ERJ's and taking over PHL and DCA if we don't get what we want. AWAC management probably laughed at the offer and Parker said okay then the extension it is. I honestly think if a long term deal would've been inked that PDT's road to getting ERJ's would've been different. Now I believe it's full steam ahead and you'll be seeing ERJ's flooding DCA and PHL in the next few years starting to take over many of AWAC routes.
It sucks and thank goodness I'll be gone before any of that happens. That's the bizz and you just never know.

I mean how can you say this is win-win? AA by their own doing would make it more difficult to staff their regional flying, and would now being paying you mainline rates when they would otherwise being paying you regional ones. Rates which, they pressured you with closing and then dropped the flow carrot in your face, just to secure. So now they're just going say "eh screw it, we'll see y'all on Monday at class"??????

Serious question but do you really believe this? AA will just up and absorb PDT.

Parker isn't a dummy and I think as the pilot shortage gets worse you'll see this as a mean to pull pilots from other carriers. There's already tons of pilots leaving and going to PSA. If PDT can't staff I'm sure they will hire Street Captains in the ERJ's.
Grab your popcorn should be fun.

Yes that's pretty much it. Even when we were short on Captain guess what?? 3 had to go. Our union made sure we had some protection after looking at the PSA deal. Many believe that many future classes will consist of WO pilots only and this will be AAG's carrot to get people. One American pilot pretty much said it will be tough as hell in the future to work for American unless you're military prior or come up through one of the WO's with the flow.

I just have a hard time believing that any "professional" pilot with a college degree could possibly write such a post. It would make one think that you are not a pilot, and thus render anything that you say as irrelevant.

Nope, if you read the entire paragraph, what was stated is that AA will pretty soon only take non-military through the WO flow and create a low-longevity based low-cost supply for the WO airlines.
