I'll have to agree. There is better and more accurate terminology such as contract airline or teaching airline (similar to a teaching hospital).
As far as being paid what you are worth, that can't happen because pilots do not believe that. Most don't think for a second they could be stuck where they are at.

How else were their pilots going to get time in heavy RJs with underwing engines?

I agree with you on most of what you said there. There are some "zero cost" alternatives. For instance; getting a mainline seniority number when you're hired at c-scale. That's tangible
What would your opinion of that be? Agreeable??
When this bankrupt business model finally fails, the flying will revert to mainline, where it belongs anyway.

And what did mainline and ALPA think a regional pilots worth was before giving up scope? There was a time when regionals were not allowed into ALPA. Mainline pilots have even more ability to take back "their" flying. Just take back your scope agreement and stop all farming and or permitted flying. You may need to fight and give up your pay and profit sharing. Go for it.... The ball is in DAL pilots court. Lets wait and see how much flying they take back.

Sadly mainline will maintain the status quo on scope and hope the shortage does their work for them. I don't blame current mainline guys, but I do blame the ones who voted for scope erosion in the 80's and 90's. Once that Pandora's box opened, it's nearly impossible to go back. We can blame a lack of unity among pilots now, ALPA, or management, but it would've been nice if future pilots were never sold out to begin with.
Or maybe we could blame American for the first B-scale. Or maybe even the proponents of Deregulation. In any event, cat's out if the bag now, and it's hard to hold the line if there's a single weak link among the pilots. I guess what I'm saying is I'm in favor of union thugs.
