Crj or Erj
#82
So from this thread, we have come to the conclusion then that the ERJ climbs better, but the CRJ cruses better. Which has been my observation. Both are in dyer need of slats, and more power.. the ERJ certainly could use a more critical wing.. both are however, short range, commuter jets and do a fine job at making regional airline Exec rich, while we view the jobs as "Career builders" and accept crap wags to fly them..
Sums it up, I think.. eh?

Oh yeah? Well I'll bet you can't go from high school dropout to "professional" MD-11 pilot in just 90 days, for a mere $50,000.
But you can be a RJ driver!

CE, are you at FDX??
Yeah- your MD11 may be be faster and climb better... but I bet you don't qualify for free foodstamps!!

I'm kidding, I'm not slamming GAC or it's pilots. But that last contract is pretty crappy. Considering it was settled while the company was in Ch.11, they were not really going to get what they wanted/derserved.

Well, with GAC's last TA he just might qualify for food stamps.

But they were in BK at the time of that contract negotiation so we can only hope it gets better in a couple of years when they reopen wage talks. Truth be told, we've lost some 30+ pilots (including captains) to UPS and Fedex in the last few months, so I'm sure something may have to change if they want to arrest the exodus.

The CRJ-700 can cruise at 390 to 410 at .83 with power to spare. Might have to reduce climb to 500fpm at these altitudes especially atg max weight on takeoff (75,000lbs.) Probably one of the best performing regional jets out there. (Southwest was even looking at them a short time ago) The 200 is a dog, especially after FL260. Would like to hear about the ERJ -170.
