LGA is short staffed on the CA side. Sorry to give you false hope. At the moment we have hundreds of FOs sitting reserve across the system without flying much beyond the 100 hours of consolidation. We literally have FOs paying people to buy their trips off them so they can fly them.

Just to give some more perspective there’s fos who have been here over a year and have less than 150hrs. So after 2 months of training and 3 months to consolidate up to 100 hrs in the remaining 7 months plus they have flown less than 50 hrs. All in all new hires are sitting reserve and that reserve time is looking like a year or more at this point and not being utilized.

Yeah even still people posting daily getting denied dropping multiple requests. The bigger issue is it’s a pretty big risk dropping reserve. If you don’t mind giving up guaranteed income to maybe get a trip it can be done. Without much on the boards lately you have to be quick to pick stuff up and be a little lucky to log on and see something. That or just know how to work the system. Which newer guys like me have no idea how to do yet.

Personally, I risk it because I refuse to commute to sit 18 days of reserve in EWR. I have never dropped and not been able to pick up trips. Again, have to be willing to pick up out of base and be the first one to drop when the drops open up. Reach out to me and I’ll talk you through it if you want.
Although I guess if I was new I'd hope this pay raise goes through and then drop half my reserve and collect the same paycheck and have 21 / 20 days off a month depending if it's a 30 or 31 day month.

Agreed, I hit the line mid august, I dropped all my reserve for September and October and I now have 100 hours in the ERJ. If you want to fly and utilize the trade board/OT, you can fly your but off.

That's ridiculous lol. So you drop your reserve and give up your minimum guarantee and then you go on the tradeboard / open time and pick up anything you see available? The more you encourage others to do that the less there will be for all of you. This simply isn't a sustainable model for the majority of FOs. You just clarified for prospective new pilots how dire the situation is for the pilots on property at Republic.

Personally, I don’t care if people know. This is my last month at RPA and I picked up what I needed. Even if I was staying, I told them what to do, not how to do it. There’s an art to all this.
I hope the TA helps with lines and spreading the flying. Worse case scenario, I’d be compensated 90% more for my troubles at a crashpad or do what you mentioned and drop most of my reserve days and pocket the same thing.
The flexibility is good on the FO side, just have to decide what’s important to you.

Dropping to 0 is exactly what happens. I regularly credit 80-85 hours with 15-18 days off. It’s a risk, but I’ve always been able to pick up trips.
