Possibly. I think 170/190 class start the beginning of the month and Q and 145 class the middle of the month. Well maybe not 145 class anymore....

We haven't had an E145 class since November, and probably won't be having any more for quite some time...

I just spoke with the chief of recruiting at RAH. I confirmed my suspicion that RAH does not look out for the best interest of their pilots. If a new hire gets furloughed after one year, then takes another job and five years later RAH recalls them, the pilot is obligated to come back to RAH or repay the outstanding twelve month balance on the remaining new hire contract.

As if you didn't already know, This is a bad place to work folks. Don't sell your soul over $5k.

When does it end?

Also, if anyone is considering taking a signing bonus at ANY regional airline, do yourself a favor and talk to your tax accountant before you sign. Because, depending on how the regional airline codes the "bonus" on your W2, it could be considered a gift instead of "regular W2 income" and therefore taxed at almost 50%. So, you could end up taking a signing bonus, spending it on bills...etc. and then come tax time you have to pay uncle sam almost half of that signing bonus, of which you already spent.....

All i'm saying is if you take a signing bonus, be careful and do your research

The good news is that the RAH bonus gets taxed as income, albeit at the highest rate so you'll likely only see about $3100 of it depending on your state. The other good news is you'll get most of it back in a tax refund because you'll be in a much lower tax bracket working first year at RAH

Just an added note...it's a 2 year $20,000 training contract. So in your scenario the pilot would be on the hook for $10,000

Or ever again. Writing is on the wall here, even the school house guys are saying the 145's are gone soon. (Subtly)

RAH does a lot of things, this is not one of them. I was furloughed after 6 months and the training contract is null and void if they cannot keep you employed. Tons of guys did not come back from my class, not one ever heard a peep. Unenforceable, and they would lose the case on past practice alone.

The $5k was for the sign-on bonus. I should have clarified. The $20k training contract is crap because Mesa, Compass, and now SkyWest only have a 12 month $11-12k contract. So why does RAH think they can justify an extra $10k and one yr. The recruiter couldn't answer that question. Oh, and if you go interview with them, expect to fly standby and you stand a good chance of not getting a seat that late in the day. Just another way they screw you. I won't be filling the 21 April shuttle America seat.
