Thanks again.
No problem man.

The first step is realizing you have a problem. Good for you.

They're fixing this problem by moving the tightest FDP to the last day of the trip, so you get to choose between spending an extra night away from home, or "volunteering" to extend your FDP. Just like last year when the go-home-day had 8 legs.

As a commuter, this works beautifully for me. 4 hours of extra pay, a free night in a hotel as opposed to a crashpad, and most likely getting home earlier with a faked DH and a direct flight home.

Yup. My last 2 trips cancelled back to base caught early flight home and 4 hrs and extra per diem next day. Gotta love it.

Don't forget to "contact your doctor if it lasts longer than 4 hours." I once heard a comedian respond to that by saying, "For what? To brag about it?"

How hard would Columbus be to get and hold for a new hire, and does anyone forsee the base closing anytime soon?

Lie to your doctor; get a free sample. Gives the term "recreational drug" a whole new meaning.

I'm sorry, I just read the posts above yours and then saw this. Made me laugh so I decided to share.

Yes I'm childish & immature.

Carry on.

Columbus (shuttle) is a junior base. You should probably be able to hold it out of training. No one knows what base(s) will be the next to close but CMH has grown significantly in the last couple of years.

Thought I'd add the following for the benefit of the original poster:

Across all 3 certificates, it is our largest concentration of employees. We have significant maintenance in CMH, so I would say it's relatively safe, but the effects of Part 117 (new rest rules) have not played out completely.

Outstation bases are especially at risk of closure.
