Reading the last 10 pages of *****ing on here is depressing!

Anyways been here since Jan. I'm enjoying it so far held a line straight off IOE on the S5 side in IND. Yes the pay sucks, plus no cancellation pay really sucks, lost 10 hours last month but I still have a better QOL then the last 3 places I've been at.

It seems a lot of the complaining on here comes from people who haven't been to other regional's or had other flying gigs. Trust me the grass is not always greener on the other side. (I'm going to catch hell for saying this)... With that said do we need a contract? Yes. Do we need a better QOL? yes... So at the end of the day do what is best for you and your QOL. Try and look at the positives and stay hopeful for future. In a couple years we will all know if this ****ty regional gig was worth the pain of trying to achieve a dream at a better airline.

I've had 135 sell the jet. = no job
9e go tits up - voluntary furlough
Avantair -Furloughed- LOA - Now back on Furlough
RAH - holding a line and gaining seniority

Gotta take the positives where I can.

Good Luck guys!

A quick point on this if I may...I added the emphasis to the "or" each time it was used in your previous post to help illustrate my point.

Aside from the day trips, (which come, go, change and are often cherry-picked by the senior outstation FOs who are waiting to upgrade in the same equipment, certificate, and base) you're going to very quicky realize that it's not 0445 reports or post midnight release times at the end of your trip, it's both, should you choose rjet. You'll be up at 0300 to get to the airport for your report, and released the next night at sometime close to midnight. Sleeping disorders and the poor attitudes that result from such terrible schedules are rampant at many of rjet's outstations and you'll find a large percentage of crew members outright unpleasant as the result.

Depending on your individual circadian rhythm, either the very early morning of the first day or the late night of the second day of this type of trip will have you tired to extent that rivals mild alcohol impairment. Not only only is it poor for morale, unhealthy, and hard on family life (the wife won't put up with you sleeping until noon the next day trying to let your body recover for long) it can lead to the sort of mistakes that cause pilot deviations or even worse.

It is a bad system. In the past, the nature of the outstation flying precluded schedule improvements, but the amount of rjet flying into these bases has increased to the point that strictly morning or evening pairings would easily be possible, but the company seems to have learned how much crew members hate such trips and refuse to improve the schedules simply for that reason. Keep in mind that this company's stated goal is high turnover to decrease crew costs...their business model depends on it even more so than other regionals.

That being said, there are trips that are back or front end commutable (read: morning or evening schedules), and some that are even so on both ends, but they are rare, particularly during the winter months.

Your enthusiasm is encouraging. I was the same way when I was hired in a class of 17 people over two years ago. Today, 4 of us remain, and our enthusiasm has turned to disappointment, regret and oftentimes anger. I turned down interviews with 4 other regionals when I was in training or shortly after IOE because I also thought that they were all the same. I failed to understand, however, how difficult rjet's outstation basing would affect my QOL in ways that I could never anticipate, even when I lived in base.

Good luck with your decision. Choose carefully.

Agree with all of the above.Plus,PLUS,they will assign a one day trip after a trip that finishes after midnight with one day inbetween.Say your three day ends Wednesday at 11:55Pm,you will have a one day with a 4:445AM show on Friday.Since you duty out after midnight Wednesday,Thursday is not technically a "day off ".Sweet ! You will need a crashpad/hotel for Wednesday AND Thursday...Doesn't Skywest look better now ?

Commenting on what my wife will put up with is bordering on rediculas. As is thinking that scheduleing makes the schedule so you'll quit. Your not that important. They just make them to work.

If yur based in phl or dca this does not happen. Work rules here are terrible either way. The jet is great as are your coworkers. CEO is a very dishonest person and that sets the trend for the entire airline. Day to day it isnt the worst place, but when its bad, youll wanna walk off the job at an outstation. Btw airlines are never as bad or good as you hear. Its different for everyone so make up your own mind and try to live in base- Its the only way this airline makes sense.

Been here 13+ years...........and I struggle to go to work. I wish I could have gotten out a long time ago but circumstances weren't with me at that time. The QOL I have is hit, but mostly miss. I refuse to move to a domicile bc frankly they open and close to freq, and I mega-hate the midwest. I feel bad for my coworkers being forced to deal with another base closure.....And GSO is being rumored to be next, but I can't confirm that.

As the previous poster mentioned, you could end up with four day that is not commutable on the front end or the back end, followed with a day trip with a late show and a late finish. For me as a commuter that is 3 hotels at $45 a night and multiply that by three or four times a month, cha-ching. That happens to me a many times a year. My worst experience was while based in CMH a looong time ago I got stuck there for almost an entire month and a half and that cost me $700 in hotels. "Why?" You might ask did that happen? Because on the Delta travel benefits we are only above buddy passes, and there is always a mainline guy signed up for the js. And if I didn't finish by say 3 pm, I couldn't catch the last flight to ATL.....I had a 2 leg commute too, thanks to MCO closing.

If I came here today as new hire.....I would go nuts, and i would quit. Mgmt has no regard for you at all, you WILL fly tired(body clock screwed up?....YOU bet your life it will be), you WILL be pushed to the limits of the regs. I met a pilot who was on reserve last month who had 60+ hours of dead head time....and that is paid out at 3/4 of what it's blocked at, btw he still won't break 75 hrs. No cancellation pay, I have had 19 hr four days end up being only worth 12 hrs. I know guys that will see a major wx system rolling through say in the NE and it has the potential to cause huge problems, they will "say screw it" and call off sick to save themselves the aggravation of going to work, to work for free. A great example that I heard of was a few weeks ago when some nasty wx went thru ORD...They had an entire crew DH via limo from ORD to SBN (3+Hrs in a car) only to turn around and go back to ORD (3 more hrs) bc the A/C never made it in...so wasteful.

I would go anyplace else other than here if I was looking for a job. But if you're desperate.........go someplace else and save yourself the pain.

Really? Out of all of the things that I said, these are your takeaways? I'm beginning to have a more clear understanding of rjet seems to be your choice.

I'm going out of my way to help you...your defiant attitude is unhelpful and failure to heed warnings from those those with firsthand knowledge and experience of rjet's inner workings and day-to-day problems will cause you more heartache that we can describe.

Good luck to you. I can only that my post makes more sense to more reasonable, open-minded, and less adversarial individuals who are considering rjet.
